Replied to text has red background

I've been having a strange problem for a while now (predates v4.61), but I've run out of places to look.

Sometimes when I reply to an email that uses HTML formatting the replied to text has a red background. It's been difficult to track it down as when BearHTML or IERenderer displays the message, everything looks fine. But, when writing a reply, and on the receiving end, the text has the red background.

Today I discovered a potential reason with background-color: #fff  in the body of the original message, but background-color: #ff0000 in the span when that original message is included in the reply. I'm guessing the the #fff is being translated to #ff0000 by mistake. Does that sound plausible?

I can send copies of .cnm files as needed.

Done. Sent an example of an original message, and the resulting reply.

The easiest way of working around would be to disable the For replies to HTML, preserve original's formatting option in the reply dialog so it only quotes the text and not the formatting. I'll check whether I can provide another workaround via IERenderer, though (HTML is being "tidied" by the renderer modules anyway for preventing TER/HTS crashes).

I was sure I tested that.....but obviously hadn't as it does fix the problem.

Thanks for letting me know of a way to avoid the problem.

This might sound like a silly question, but is IERenderer used when replying to an HTML message?

Like I wrote before: It (actually another module called LibTidy which is invoked by both renderers) only prepares the HTML for HTS which converts it to RTF which gets inserted into a TER window where you can edit it. Short answer: Yes and no ...
