Insert horizontal rule

That is strange. I can't reproduce that at all on any machine I use.  Were you able to test this on another computer?

Perhaps you have some other software running that interferes with this process.

There an icon in the compose message window called "Insert horizontal rule." I am able to insert lines only by trial and error; and, I am unable to vary the weight of the line even though the icon graphic suggests there are 3 different weights.  What is the correct way to use this feature?

There's only one rule thickness for new messages.  If you need to have better HTML control when composing mail, try using an web editor and then attaching the page or  importing it into the message.

Now I know what to

expect. Thank you. I would also like to know how to insert the line in the first

place. I seem to have to click on the message and/or the icon in a

trial-and-error fashion. I can't find out anything on the feature in the Help.

How to insert the line? That seems a strange question. I just tested and all I have to do is click the icon once and a new line is inserted at the cursor with a thin line across the message at the top of the new line.

I agree that the icon is indeed confusing in that you might expect to be able to adjust the thickness. It's worth reminding people that Pegasus does not do full HTML editing. You are only able to create Rich Text messages. To insert full HTML you need to import an external file. I use a few templates which do that.

A rule can't be inserted at the start of a message, and you can't create one directly following another one.

Apart from that it works for me as expected.

I agree it should be dropdead simple. My experience is that it doesn't work in such a straightforward manner. I click the icon: no line. I move the cursor & click the icon: no line. I click the icon again: maybe a line.

What I now observe is that often, but not always, when I click on the horizontal line icon a line appears momentarily. When I click elsewhere in the message the line appears as expected.

That seems like a display problem.  Does that happen on just one computer - can you test it on any others?

That's the way it works for me, and the restriction that a line can't be the first element in the email or that you can't enter two consecutive lines seems to be quite reasonable.

However, does everyone know that these lines are simple drawing objects, which can be moved (dragged) and rotated using their endpoints? This allows you to end up with consecutive horizontal lines and also you can draw pictures this way -- crude, but then more than adequate for my limited artistic skills.  :-)

Now that "tax season" in the US is almost over (I'm a CPA) I will check it out on other machines. In the meantime, I have also observed that the line will appear every time if I press the TAB key after clicking the icon.
