Pmail 4.61 freezing
There is definitely a problem with even the latest version of IErenderer which is obviously sensitive to some HTML content in emails.
There will probably always be one sooner or later, here's something else you can do: Please install the (latest version of the) MiniDump extension, and when Pegasus Mail appears to "hang" launch PMDebug Snapshot from MiniDump's Start menu group (if you allowed the setup to create one). After restarting Pegasus Mail you should get prompted with an auto-saved message alert opening the previously created snapshot message to be sent to our test account as filled in. Providing the culprit message would help a lot as well, of course - provided I can duplicate the issue.

Hi Folks,

Ok, I had an odd problem. I'm running Pmail 4.61 on WIN XP SP3 and it was running fine until my MB on this machine went south. I had a new MB installed and now Pmail is locking up and freezing all the time. I reinstalled 4.61 with no luck, it's still freezing up, it was working fine before the motherboard switch, any ideas on what the heck went wrong? What could I do to get it working again?

Thanks Much!!

Don

We need more details.  When does it hang?

It hangs after downloading the mail, while it is processing the mail into my folders it will just freeze and I get a message in the title bar saying  "Pegasus is not responding" and then it will unfreeze but will run EXTREMELY SLOWLY taking 1 minute or more to open each email if at all. I have reverted back to Pmail version 4.52 and all is working fine in this version. I had to switch back as my email load is rather large and I need a working email program. I don't know what difference switching out the MB on this machine could have made, but Pmail 4.61 just refused to work after doing so. In addition, I'm using IE 7.0 but have Pmail set to launch FF 4.0.1 for all my links. I'd like to get 4.61 working again so any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

First thing I would do is to turn off the IERenderer using the Pegasus Mail icon on the toolbar.  Next I would set the Winsock to the load always in  Tools | Options | Advanced.  If this fixes the problem then I would update the IERenderer to the latest version.

First thing to check: Set Tools => Options => Advanced settings => Load Windows Internet Services ... to Always ...

Ok, I've gone back to version 4.61, set Winsock to load ALWAYS (was set to on demand only) and updated to the new version of IERenderer. I'll see what happenes when I get a load emails in and then report back.

Thanks Much Everyone!!

Hi folks,

Those two fixes seemed to have solved my problems, Pmail 4.61 is now working again.

Thanks Again!!

"Don't count your chickens before they've hatched."   Old aphorism, but true.

I just had Pegasus  lock up with about 50% of the CPU for several minutes while 'looking at' new emails. I have winsock set to 'always', and also the latest version of IErenderer.

I tried removing all the .CNM files and Pegasus restarted without delay.  Restoring these files brought the problem back again.  There is definitely a problem with even the latest version of IErenderer which is obviously sensitive to some HTML content in emails.  Hard to isolate a single email which triggers the problem but if I can find one, I'll forward it to a developer.
