Doesn't your website administration software (PHP?) provide such a service (I'm not into such things, just wondering whether it wouldn't be easier this way)?

My question is to do with POP3 and SMTP, I have something called "Free SMTP Server" it has autodetected port and DNS server. My question is in Pegasus Mail Tools Internet options what should the details be when I use the wizard? I am completely lost with the mailing system. I have a webpage using and hosting with localhost and basically I just want people to receive confirmation emails but like I said I am at a complete loss :(

I don't know this software you mention but it sounds like it is just an SMTP server, so you can forget any POP3 stuff from that.

The settings you need will presumably depend on how you configured the server. We can give you ideas but we don't deal with that software.

A good starting point would be for you to explain in detail what you want to do and then what isn't working at the moment.

Well, it looks like a simple SMTP server(!).

You need to tell us if the installation is local or on another computer. You will need to create a gateway using pconfig.exe that points to the computer that hosts the program. The help file will help you with this. You will need to set the path to the server and the format that the mail should take when being sent. This will allow you to send mail.

 You also need to make sure the SMTP software is correctly configured so that it delivers downloaded mail into the folder that Pegasus Mails polls for mail.

As Sharkfin says, tell us more about your setup, but also take the time to read the Pegasus Mail manual as that will help explain the settings and what you can achieve. Setting up SMTP for the first time can be a little daunting. It is essential that you do the required research to ensure that you not only understand what the pconfig settings and the SMTP settings do, but that you also understand the SMTP process of delivery and receipt. If you do not do this, you risk running around in circles and potentially losing email.
