Well it's AVG that your Pmail is talking to, and it is AVG issuing the "Unknown command" error, so that would be a logical place to start looking, no?

Well, it seems you are right!

I will probably have to upgrade from AVG 10.0.1375

I took out the mail scanner and now PM is downloading 95 mails as I write. Funny because up till now this never had been a problem.

Thank you both for your answers!

Regards.

Good morning everyone,

I used to get my professional mail using PM without any hassle using POP3 and security setting STLS. As of this week, I keep getting the folowing error:

0058 +OK AVG POP3 Proxy Server 9.0.845/9.0.901 [271.1.1/3649]
<< 0006 STLS
>> 0034 -ERR Unknown command, try again.

My employer uses Exchange 2010 supposedly with the TLS security protocol. Until May 16th, this worked. Now it doesn't. Anybody got any idea what can be the problem?

Just to make sure everything is clear, I use PM4.61, on an Win XP 32 bit machine. The account is a POP3 one set up as usual with the name of the server, login and password. In the security settings, the STLS button is checked.

BTW, no other security setting works, just in case you ask.

Thank you!

You need to fix AVG, or remove it and point Pmail directly at the server.

I don't think that AVG is the problem since it worked last sunday and days before...

Must be something else.

Plus, AVG NEVER caused me any problem and has been a very helpful mail scanner...

1. Allowing an antivirus program to access your email is not a good idea at any time.

2. Has the server security been upgraded?
