I'm not sure if I have changed something in my e-mail settings, but my e-mail headers are now showing one e-mail address followed by "on behalf of" and then my proper e-mail address. Since I use this client for business purposes, I don't want the first e-mail address showing at all. Is there a fix for this issue?
I can't delete this posting, but have figured out and fixed the problem.

Let's find out where this is being done first. Go to File | Network configuration | General and turn on "Create Internet session logs (advanced diagnostic use only)"
Checking this control tells Pegasus Mail to create special log files that show the entire exchange of information between it and the servers it connects to. Each session will be created in a file called TCPxxxx.WPM in your home mailbox directory (the "xxxx" is replaced by four digits). Creating session logs will slow down the performance of your system somewhat, and you should be aware that any username and password information exchanged between Pegasus Mail and the server will be shown in the log, *even* if you use SSL to secure the connection. Session logs are primarily useful if you need to debug a problem between Pegasus Mail and one of the servers it connects to - you should enable the option only on instructions from a system administrator or from Pegasus Mail technical support. [ Technical note: this control has the same effect as using a "-Z 32" commandline switch when you run Pegasus Mail ]
You can now try again to send the mail and then look at the resulting TCP/IP debug file. Review of this file will tell you exactly what is going on between WinPMail and the server. You can send us a copy of the session log for analysis if you wish.
I'm guessing you are sending with a MAIL FROM address that differs from the account address. You might try going to Tools | Internet options | (Sending) SMTP, editing the SMTP setup and entering the address in Use an alternate e-mail address for the SMTP envelope before you try the session logging.
Ooops. Sorry. I hadn't checked back here in a while (vacation, other excuses [:)] )
I checked the box that says "use an alternate e-mail address" in the Network configuration screens (File | Network Configuration | Sending (SMTP) | Edit) and entered the desired address. This works flawlessly when I start a new e-mail, but the "on behalf of" stuff occasionally shows up when I respond to an existing e-mail.
Well, I guess I jumped the gun as now my e-mails are showing the "From" address as the unwanted address. No "on behalf of". This is very frustrating. The unwanted address is the name under which the account with my ISP was originally set up. I never had any issues creating my desired "From" address so this is frustrating.
I will try to create a debug file and post it here.
Thanks!

Before posting edit and cleanse the file to remove any password information.
I created a debug file for a sent email and looked through it. There were no references to the other account. I will now try creating one for the receipt of the email and see what happens.
I have removed the account password. Shall I leave both email addresses in the log when I post it here, or change them to protect the innocent?
Thanks!

Your choice. Are any of the addresses ones you would not also use on a postcard or shout out on a street corner? This is a public forum so posting here is the same as that. If any information is removed though there is almost no chance that anybody can figure out the problem or help you. Maybe it might be necessary to send your file to somebody offline and direct to their address they provide for you to use.
As you have probably seen; when the system logging is turned on the file created contains every byte in and out. I usually caution to edit them and then when finished inspection of them to delete them. Only a portion of the log information is critical to figuring out if and what is the problem on your end. The logging does not tell anything about what takes place after it leaves or before it is returned again.

If the address is not in the message you sent then it must be being added by the SMTP host as some sort of an anti-spam device.

You can ship the debug file to me at the address below if you wish.
