How can I distribute an incoming email for a few user ?

Hello Thomas,

I have tried both solutions (just to learn .. ) and I have to agree with you the mailing list is much easier than the filter or maintain a forward file.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Jhonny

Hello All,

I have just start (buy) to use the mercury so I am new in this.

My problem :

I have six user with a aaabbb@example.com user name and an alias aaa.bbb@example.com.

I also have an info@example.com user. I would like to distribute all incoming email to the six users. So I would like to use the info email address as a distribution list.

How should I do this ?

Any advice ?

Thank you in advance.

Jhonny

There are several ways of doing this, but the best one is probably to create a mailing list with your six users as members. There is plenty of information about how to do this in Mercury help and the PDF manual.

What about a filtering rule, just as you explain it to me Rolf? see that thread http://community.pmail.com/forums/thread/27517.aspx

Hello Phil,

Thankl you for your answer.

I have created a global header filter (for six user) where I checked the "to" parameter and the value was info@example.com with "exact match". But it is not work.

I will try the mailing list, but the filter seems to be better (if it works) for me.  :)

Thank you again.

Best regards,

Jhonny

Personally I would use the mailing list since it's so much easier to maintain but you can also create a user called INFO and then mail forwarding to the other users is handled by a file called FORWARD in the INFO user's mail directory.  FORWARD can contain the following lines.

Forward-To: <address>
Deliver-Also: <Y> or <N>

The <address> is a single address to which the message should be forwarded.  While each Forward-To: line can only contain a single address, a user's FORWARD file can contain multiple Forward-To: lines, which will result in the message being forwarded separately to the address specified in each line.

You must turn on this capability in Configuration | Mercury core | Advanced "Allow file-based forwarding specification using FORWARD files".
