Problem from hotmail

Has a solution been found to this problem? I am a long time mercury user and the last version I used was 4.72 and I never experienced this problem.  Just about a week or so ago, I decided to update to 4.73, and I immediately noticed this problem from hotmail. I've tested from two different hotmail accounts and all long messages have this problem.  Is there a fix coming out soon, or should I revert to ver. 4.72.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi all,

We are using Mercury Mail Transport System for Novell NetWare Servers (NLMs) v1.48 with Netware server 5.1 SP8.
We found that our mercury server has problem receiving email from hotmail, the mail content "cut" and lost like this.

I would really help if you provided a MercuryS session log that showed the problem.

Hi Thomas R. Stephenson,

Really thanks for your reply and help.

Here is the seesion log: http://fs3.hksyu.edu/~cyrus/TCP0002.log

I can see the mail was "cut" in the HTML part, I think that's the problem. Do you have any idea to solve?

Thanks.

Cheers,
Cyrus

Hi Thomas R. Stephenson,

I also get a session log from my linux server, the email is send by hotmail -> linux -> mercury.
This is the log I get from linux:
http://fs3.hksyu.edu/~cyrus/log2.log

When I compare the logs, I found the mail was not "cut" when it reached linux, but I don't know why it "cut" when received by Mercury.

I also made the Mercury to receive the mail from hotmail directly, it still "cut".

Thanks very much.

Cheers,
Cyrus

I can see why it was cut by Mercury, the HTML is just one long line well over the SMTP MUST requirement of 1000 characters (998 characters+CR+LF) per line.  The Linux version for some reason does not have this problem, it shows the soft wrapping.  The why is a bit difficult to understand, maybe the Linux system is inserting these soft carriage returns (+ symbol) in the line when received.

FWIW, this might be because of something in the message itself since the HTML line does show high bit characters.

Could you send the same message to me at thomas@novell-tstephenson.com so I can see this as received by Mercury/32 and forwarded on to Mercury/NLM?

Hello Thomas R. Stephenson,

I sent a email to thomas@novell-tstephenson.com from high_bb@hotmail.com, did you receive it?
Thanks very much,

Cyrus

Yes I received it and replied from techsupp@tstephenson.com.  Mercury v4.73 and mercury NLM show the same problem, the sender is sending the HTML part as one long line over 1000 characters without any soft CR.   I've passed the message and the two logs off to David and the testers for comment.  I did note that you were sending using BIG5 and 8 bit encoding and that may be causing the problem if there is a 8 bit character in the line.
