554 Command rejected for site-specific policy reasons

That definitely looks wrong to me, in a similar way to the error I made. See page 12 of the 4.73 manual - I think (guessing a bit as you've scrambled your domain name) yours should probably look like

I'm not sure about the colons - they are there in my mercury.ini but the current manual doesn't seem to show any?

Hello,

we use the latest registered Mercury and had a problem yesterday. Some incoming mail were rejected  with the error "554 Command rejected for site-specific policy reasons"

Problem is, we don't know, why these mails became rejected.

An extract of the log file, all addresses are neutralized.

Can you configure your "appliance" to send each mail separately?

Or better yet, remove it and let Mercury handle anti-spam.

A properly trained Spamhalter daemon along with the other tools available will (in my experience) be superior to your appliance.[quote]

Is this a "spam assassin virtual appliance"?

No, it is an appliance, Symantec Brightmail Antivirus and AntiSpam

We don't have a more detailed session log for this error.

The Symantec appliance sends each mail separately, this error never before appeared, we switched to  Mercury 4.73 a couple weeks ago.

The appliance also works as a virus filter, the team Mercury and Symnatec worked fine for years.

Why did you do that?  The actual domain name might be the most critical item in solving the problem.

Because I don't want our company mailserver configuration visible for everybody on the web.

I just did "replace domain-name.com with ourdomain.com"

Mercury works fine for years, this error appeared after we updated to Mercury 4.73 from 4.0?

Regards

Uwe

It may be a good idea to modify [Domains] a bit (see Mercury help), but the thing that caused the rejections is apparently that several of the message content restrictions (MercuryS configuration, Compliance) have been selected. I can't say which one triggered in this case, but uncheck all if there isn't a special reason for you to keep them.
