One question left:  I dislike the bigger toolbar icons.  Can I get the small ones back?[/quote]

You can customise the toolbar using the bpanel.txt file in the Resource directory. Mine looks like this. I also removed a few dll and fff file pairs that I don't use, so the associated icons don't show in the toolbar. I think it looks less cluttered this way than when all large icons are featured.

I ran Pegasus 4.52 (and Mercury 4.72) for years on XP.  I recently installed Win7 (now dual-boot).  I never formally "installed" Pegasus on Win7 (same for Mercury); I just ran them as always.  They work fine (but I missed the "mailto" capability).  Anyway, I'd like to upgrade both (to Pegasus 4.61 and Mercury 4.73) and I'd rather not have to completely reconfigure both.  Can I do that?  Will the distribution packages give me an option to upgrade the installations which weren't made with Win7?  If I simply install on top of the old ones, will I lose configuration info?  Can I install in a new place and then copy the old config files?  I welcome any suggestions.

 Thanks.

P.S.  Win7 shuts down very fast about half the time too fast for Pegasus (locked mailbox after restart).  Does v4.61 address that issue?

Updating Mercury in place worked nicely.  Upgrading Pegasus in place appeared to work nicely (showed up in Win7's "Programs and Features").  But it crashed immediately upon startup.  Now it's uninstalled and I'm back to v4.52.

Are there any ideas on getting Pegasus installed in Win7 without having to completely re-configure it?

Thanks.

OK, I got it.  I finally realized that all the settings are in the mailboxes.  So I just did a new install  The first time I (wrongly) said "single user".  So I uninstalled, cleaned up the mess in the mailbox folder, and installed again.  It's working OK, apparently.

The reason for the crashes is most probably the existence of IE 9 on your machine which was released after 4.61 and broke IERenderer compatibility as opposed to the IE 9 release candidate: If you update IERenderer after installing 4.61 it'll cease crashing.

Too bad!

I see Win7 still kills Pegasus too fast.  About half the time I get "Mailbox is locked".  Is there a solution.

Thanks.

What version of Pegasus Mail are we talking about now? And what does Win7 ... kills exactly mean?

Hi, Michael.

It's version Pegasus version 4.61 and Windows7/SP1.  I figured that if Pegasus terminated completely of its own will it would have removed the mailbox lock file.  Since it often doesn't remove the lock upon logoff, I assumed Windows killed it (or just shut down).

This may still be the case although some beta-testers believe it has been solved by David Harris, maybe we should check again after 4.62 is released to the public.
