Forwarding HTML messages

I have found the problem. I had the option under Message Reader for showing the fancy version if a choice exists set to Off, ie always show the Text version first. With this option not set the default when forwarding also became Text Only.  Very confusing!

I am using V4.61 but this is a problem that has been niggling me for ages...

If I forward an HTML message which I chose to edit, it loses all HTML and the recipient just sees a plain text message with the associated pictures as attachments.

If I forward without editting this does not happen, but of course most of the time I want to edit the message before forwarding it.

I have  'Rich Text' selected (if that matters).

TIA, DG

A work around which might be of help would be to forward the message but select "Start a new message with the messages attached."

Another possible work around is to open the message in raw view, copy the html and paste to a reply and edit from there.

Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Forwarding the original email as an attachment defeats the purpose of me editting it. I may as well just forward the message without editting.

Are you confirming that this is a common problem and not just something I am doing wrong?

Cheers.

Opening a forwarded HTML message for editing for me does have some effect on the HTML, but as I don't usually edit forwarded messages, it's not an issue for me.

So I think my second suggestion would be the go for now, if it works.

Pegasus 4.62 is due out any day now, which addresses some issues. So maybe wait until then and try again, just in case this "issue" has been dealt with.

Cheers.

No, it's not

if you tick the Rich text option, there must be something special involved on your system (such as certain messages using certain formatting). Note, though, that Pegasus Mail doesn't provide a native HTML editor, the TER editor is actually a Rich Text editor, i.e. HTML is converted to Rich Text when inserted into the editor and converted back to HTML in the final processing before sending. IOW: You may get unexpected results (such as misformatted tables, e.g.) even if leaving the quoted HTML alone and only adding additional text.

OK, here's the problem... I am reading an HTML message in HTML mode, as soon as I click 'Forward' it drops me into a plain text view of the message, which is how it then gets forwarded. What am I missing?

I have 'Rich Text' ticked in the editor window and in the Sending Options.

DG,

You might go to Tools > Options > Message Formatting and make sure "Disable all text styling options" is unchecked. Not sure if that will help your situation, but it might be worth a try.
