Works 100% of the time if the windows are not maximized no matter how many windows are open.

Has anybody figured out a way to import a contacts list from GMail? 

You will need to research the subject from both the Gmail and Pmail sides. I think it can be done via the creation and import of a CSV file.

Further to that, look at Gmail and see if you can export to a csv file. If you can then look at the Addressbook menu in the top toolbar in Pmail and try to import the file as a tab delimited file.
