1.  Use Help | About Pegasus Mail | Info and note the HOME mail
    directory.

2.  Exit WinPMail.

3.  Go to the HOME mail directory and edit the state.pmj file.  Go
    to the [Folders] section and delete the line beginning with the
    equal sign (=).  Save and exit.

I don't have a line that starts with an = sign?!?

However I do have this as first line under the [Folders] section:

New mail=157,56,1087,578,"288,444,120,0,65,0"

I don't think I understand what the problem is: Can you provide a sceenshot (via the Options tab on top of the forum editor).

I suspect that what is being reported is that the new mail folder will open in list view but is not present in the folders view when "My Mailbox" is expanded.

If so this would be the reason why Thomas' suggestion wouldn't have any effects - and why I wouldn't really have a good idea what's going wrong: Maybe cleaning up HIERARCH.PM could help, but I'm not sure.

As you can see, I have an Inbox window - but it doesn't show up amongst the folders?!?

Lord knows what I've done!

I made my suggestion, but it can be simplified since you don't have any trays: Close Pegasus Mail, delete HIERARCH.PM (in your mailbox directory, see Help => About Pegasus Mail ... => Info for its path), then restart.

Interestingly all the old searches appeared individually rather than in a "Searches" file - I just deleted them one by one.
