New Win 7 install flashes - installed with default

In the end I just reinstalled after a full clean out and then copied the entire Pmail folder and bingo! It worked.

Thanks for the help

I do hope someone is online who can help me sort this;

I am at a place where I am installing Pmail on a new Win 7 machine. I have installed and used the default c:\pmail (I think, but certainly the default) to install. I then copied the folder from the old installation over the new one. When this resulted in simply a flashing of the horse on the screen and no start, I uninstalled the program to start again. I reinstalled, again in default directory. This time I did not copy any folder but just tried to start up with the new install. Still not starting of Pegasus, but flashing on the screen only.

How do I get the install to work and then copy across the folder from the Win XP install from before? The version was up to date on the XP install.

Thanks for any help on this as it is urgent... sitting here working on other things hoping to get this working quickly for them.

As an Administrator, make sure you uninstall Pegasus.

Then consider downloading and running CCleaner.com - use the registry tab to clean all traces of Pegasus if any.

Install just to be safe, logged in as an Administrator in Win 7 and then run once.

Don´t worry if all your settings are correct.  Slap it on and just run it.  Then close it down.

Then, delete ONLY the MAIL subdirectory in the new.

Copy ONLY the complete MAIL subdirectory over from the old.

Run again-should be good to go.

Thanks for the reply

I uninstalled and reinstalled and restarted the computer. The directory was all still in place. A new reinstall simply flashes, cannot be started. Should I delete the directory manually after the uninstall before reinstalling?

Yes if nec. delete the directory.  But I would also do the registry clean re above CCleaner.

Something seems to have gotten corrupted-and to be safe, do everything logged in as Adminstrator.

Strange... when going to uninstall it shows that it is installed in : C:\PMAIL\Programs

Is that normal?

I will stay on here a bit - maybe 30 min.  Just keep me posted.  I am in Amsterdam - now 20:20 so say on the hour.

If you are still having trouble - there are some other options.  But I have done this dozens of times and it should be easy if you are logged in as an Administrator

I do hope you installing 4.62 version and not the 4.61 version found on community site. If win7 machine has IE9 it will crash as soon as first HTML message if so but the 4.62 version does work ok with with win7 with IE9 installed.

If necessary - you can also use this guide from Pegasus website
