New mail not being downloaded into ANY folders

Thanks, guys.

You've given me a few things to try out, and I'll report back here when I've done that.

One point: The mailbox location on the old machine was NOT to default. I set up the mailbox on my E drive, not the default C drive. The files I copied over from the old machine did NOT include such files as the INI file, so, as I reported above, the INI file is showing the correct locations of mail and new mail. And the new mail files which I copied over from the old machine ARE showing up in the new mail pane on the new machine.

But I'll certainly run pmail.cfg now that I know how to access it on my 64bit system.

Regards

Ian T

Hi folks

I've just migrated from a Win XP pro machine to a Win 7 pro 64-bit machine. I've successfully transferred all my files and folders from the XP to the Win 7 machine.

I use the "Selective POP3 mail download" button, and all the mail on the server is displaying in the window which opens.

However, when I select any mail for downloading and hit the "Make It So" button, the mail summary window closes (as it should) but the new mail is NOT arriving either in the new mail window or any other folder.

Here's the info summary from the Win 7 machine:

I've checked the folder where the new mail should arrive, and only the existing new mail which I migrated from the old system is there.

I've checked the "Pmail.ini" file and the mailbox settings are correct. Here's the relevant section of the INI file:

I'd appreciate any help on this problem, folks. I'm a fairly experienced Pegasus user (since the late 90s) and I've moved stuff over to several machines in the past without any problem.

Kind regards

Check the session logs (Tools / Internet options - Create internet session logs, which creates TCP*.WPM files) and confirm the messages are really being transferred.

Do you have anti-virus software which checks POP transfers as they happen?

Your command line that stated winpm-32 did not contain the -i admin

That is where you new mail is located now, in c:\pmail\mail\admin and new messages are *.cnm files.

While split home and new mail locations as you showed may work PCONFIG must also be run to insure that is what is actually set for both the home and new mail paths.

If you used the installer the default pmail.cfg would have both home and new mail as c:\pmail\mail\~8

Just copy all  from another machine will not work unless that install was also configured to use the default locations too. You may need to download DosBox in order to run the 16bit PCONFIG on any 64bit system.

Hi folks

However, when I select any mail for downloading and hit the "Make It So" button, the mail summary window closes (as it should) but the new mail is NOT arriving either in the new mail window or any other folder.

Here's the info summary from the Win 7 machine:-----------------------

Just some thoughts:

What happens when you use the normal download facility?

Are you properly completing the download selection prior to "Make It So"?

Do you see the server interaction (bottom left) when downloading?

Have you looked for the CNM files elsewhere?
