Migrating v4 to new computer...

Hello everyone, I recently had a crash in my main laptop (she was old!). I've been able to fully backup the whole PMAIL folder and all subfolders and files successfully to a USB stick. It was an older version of v4 - not sure of the exact version number. Anyway, I'd like to start fresh and install the latest version of Pegasus on another (newer) laptop I have, and migrate all my old PMAIL stuff over to it. Is this a pretty straightforward process, or is there a certain procedure to be followed?

Thanks!

It's a pretty straight forward process.

Install a fresh version of Pegasus on the new computer.

Close down Pegasus if it runs.

Navigate to the PMAIL folder and you will see a MAIL (as well as a Programs) folder. Rename the MAIL folder to MAILOLD or something similar. You can delete this MAILOLD directory if you wish. It's not critical as you'll be using the MAIL folder from your old computer.

Copy (duplicating the folder structure) the MAIL folder and its subfolders from your USB stick to the PMAIL folder on your new computer.

Your PMAIL folder should now show the Programs folder and MAILOLD folder from the fresh install and MAIL folder from the USB stick.

Start Pegasus and you should be see your old mail and settings.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Thanks Rocket! It appears to have worked grat. Only little thing was a little error window saying:

"Unable to locate a Bearmtml.ini file"

... is this something crucial?

I see that warning message routinely here when using my win7 notebook with an USB drive and winpm-32 install and then following that disconnet the USB drive and start the regular hard drive install as my username. There should be bearhtml.ini files in your username location under \mail\user and also a copy in same location as winpm-32 location. I have both in both installs.

The error message does not appear to cause any problem. On the USB srick I use BearHTML but on startup of the hard drive installation I get the error message and that one actually does not use Beat but IERenderer instead.

As detailed above, it doesn't appear to be critical.

That file is located in my C:\PMAIL\Programs folder and shouldn't be affected by copying your old MAIL files.

If Bearhtml.ini is in your Programs folder, then there appears to be some other bug/problem.

Cheers
