Solved it.

 By comparing the current vs a backup file tree (I use Araxis Merge, FWIW) I discovered all differences. Fortunately, the key change was not too far from the top of the list.

In the pmail.ini file, there's a line containing the Font to use for the Folder window. The backed up copy references a font not yet available on my rebuilt machine.

The new copy of pmail.ini has:

* Font name= a bunch of garbage characters

* Font size and style = -8751 (yes, a huge not-quite-random negative number)

This can be almost-fixed simply by choosing a different font with the font-picker tool in Pegasus Mail. Unfortunately the bogus style "number" can't be fixed without hand-editing pmail.ini

 I'm reporting this as a bug to the Testers list...

Hi all,

I am stymied. I moved Pegasus Mail to a new hard drive and all was well for 1 1/2 days.

Suddenly, my folder list is completely empty, always. Including the popup folder choosers available in various places (like when choosing a move-to folder in a filter.)

• I have rebuilt hierarch.pm and state.pmj.
• I have examined other *.pm and *.ini files to see if I can find corruption.
• No matter what I do, the folder list remains completely blank!

I know the folders are still there:

• I normally have two folders plus New Mail open on opening Pegasus Mail, and that is still working
• The rebuilt hierarch.pm has all my folders

Unfortunately, with no ability to open folders, I cannot read most of my email, nor post this in the Pegasus Testers' email group (of which I am a part)

Any suggestions as to what file or corruption or setting or ??? might cause this would be much appreciated. (I hesitate greatly to restore a full backup because my machine was down for a long weekend and downloaded hundreds of emails before this problem happened... and I have no backup of those.)
