Pegasus can't find users

When Pegasus asks for a user it means that it can't find any.  This PMAIL.CFG files contains the paths to the home and new mailbox folders (usually the same) where PMAIL.USR is read for user information.  I certainly appears that Pegasus can't access the root mailbox folder.  Check permissions.

What OS are you running?

What is the path to WINPM-32.EXE?

What is the path to the MAIL folder?

I primarily use two user accounts. To switch from one to the other I have to close Pegasus and restart using the other account.

Tonight when I closed one account Pegasus couldn't find the other one "User does not exist...".  Then when I tried to go back to the account I'd just been using - it couldn't find that either. Same problem after reboot.

As far as I can see the files and directories are all there. Any thoughts? Without Pegasus I am lost!

Thanks,

Peter

Are the userentries still in PMAIL.CFG (hopefully you have a backup of that file)?

PMAIL.CFG hasn't changed, nor has PMAIL.USR. However I should have mentioned that the quickstart icon also disappeared around the time this problem occurred.

The PMAIL.CFG file may be visible but may be corrupted.  Rule that out by either restoring from a backup or running PCONFIG.EXE to create a new one.

No, the file hadn't changed as mentioned earlier. But to make absolutely sure I copied over the file from a backup, and still had the same problem.

Subsequently I've renamed the directory for the current installation and unzipped an archive version into a new directory with the same name as the original - but I still get the same problem.

This suggests that the problem isn't with Pegasus itself.

Any further ideas? I appreciate the advice given so far, even though it hasn't yet produced a fix.
