Hi!

I am trying to setup mercury in a vmware workstation.

So far I have managed to receive mail from an outside ( realworld) mail.

But I can not send any mail.

My setup is :

Windows 7/64 client

Mercury/32 v4.73

no firewall.

I use MercuryC

Core config is: internet name ["192.168.177.176"],

local domain:localhost - localhost

localhost - [192.168.177.176]  (vmware ipadress)

localhost - local.com ( just a testsite for magento)

MercuryC config is:

smarthost name: my realworld ISP's SMTPserver

conn.port: 587 ( my realworld ISP's SMTPport)

I login via POP3 host

I get this error code: 550.5.1.8 sending non-local domain not allowed, see http://postmast

and this error code: Error FF servicing queue job

Habe anyone any idea, what is wrong?

in advance thanks

Set MercuryC to do session logging and then post the session log showing the failure.  Munge any passwords in the file.

It seems your ISP mail server is telling you that you are not allowed to relay mail through it with another MAIL FROM: domain name.

You should talk to them about their policies & your requirements.

Please temporarily switch on session logging, which is not the same as normal MercuryC logging. This will give a much more detailed log showing every single line that is sent to and from the external server. As Thomas already said you need to censor the lines with login name and password before posting!

I would definitely use some better values for hostname and local domains as well. If there actually are quotation marks in the Core hostname they will have to be removed. Furthermore, using a private LAN IP address as hostname when communicating externally is probably not a good idea.

That's not the session log. Anyway ...

It seems your ISPs (like most good ISPs today) do a (reverse) lookup on hostname used in HELO/EHLO as one check ensuring it's a "good" host. You have set hostname to a private IP which for shure can't be found in DNS. Due to that they cancel the connection (first) or send an error message and because Mercury tries sending the other messages on and on closes the connection (second).

Hi, Thanks for the answer

I try again.

Core config is: internet name 87.57.133.33,

local domain:localhost - localhost

localhost - [87.57.133.33] (dynamic ipadress from ISP)

localhost - local.com ( just a testsite for magento)

MercuryC config is:

smarthost name: my realworld ISP's SMTPserver

conn.port: 587 ( my realworld ISP's SMTPport)

Actually, with this I can send testmessage from mercury, but I still get errors!?

I am using this for a testsite in magento and need to test mail sending from the system before I go live!

Here is the sessions log from mercuryC:

The session logs shows error messages from TDC referring to this link:

http://postmaster.tdc.dk/publish.php?id=23421

The linked page says:

ASMTP: Domænet findes ikke

Fejl:
Domænet (delen efter snabel-a) i mailadressen findes ikke.

Løsning:
Kontroller mailadressen for stavefejl og prøv igen.

which translated from Danish means that the domain in the mail address doesn't exist. This is true as "Admin@87.57.133.33" actually isn't a valid email address. To use a numerical IP address as domain it has to be in brackets like this: Admin@[87.57.133.33]
