Pegasus

I would try a POP3 download (not selective) of unread mail and see what it brings down. During testing you can configure to leave mail on the server just be aware that your POP settings in Gmail configuration override the settings in the email client when it comes to the handling of messages accessed by POP.

I have loaded Pegasus and it looks an interesting package but I can't set up and access my 5 gmail accounts. It does not seem to allow for imap settings, only pop3. Is there a way of getting around this problem as there is no information on how to set up gmail accounts or even how to access gmail.

Thanks Iceman

  SSL/TLS: via direct SSL connect
Enable server certificate fingerprint tracking: checked

(b) -SMTP STARTTLS -

Enable server certificate fingerprint tracking: checked
SMTP Authentication: Login to the SMTP server using POP3
username/password (the GMAIL-POP3-definition has been chosen)

(c) - SMTP via SSL -

  Server host name: smtp.gmail.com
  Server TCP/IP port: 465
  SSL/TLS: via direct ssl connection
Enable server certificate fingerprint tracking: unchecked
SMTP Authentication: Login to the SMTP server using POP3

Go to Tools | Internet options | (Sending) SMTP to setup the SMTP server.

Go to Tools | IMAP profiles... For the IMAP4 setup.

In addition to Thomas R. Stephenson's posting...

Login to the Gmail website and ensure Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP
IMAP Access: Enable IMAP
When I mark a message in IMAP as deleted: Auto-Expunge off - Wait for the client to update the server.

Thank you so much for your support. I now have my five addresses working properly. Thanks

Thank you so much for your support. I now have my five addresses working properly. Thanks

I've just downloaded & installed Pmail 4.63 and am now trying to configure it to connect to Gmail. Am unclear on (a)-(d). I've done (a) the POP settings and think I have that right. Am I supposed to pick just one of the two SMTPs given - either (b) or (c) - or am I supposed to do both? I've tried it with one and then the other, neither worked. If it is supposed to be both, where do I enter the second one? I only see fields to do one or the other. Lastly, what is IMAP, & how do I tell if I need to do that?

Thanks for any guidance.

Either SMTP definition should work. You don't need both.

If you continue to experience difficulty enable session logging in Tools | Internet options.

Read the Help files first.

Post the logs here if you wish, but delete username and password first including those that are Base64 encoded.

IMAP is an alternative to POP3 whereby mail is retained on the server by default.

Thanks, caisson. Progress: I've successfully sent a couple test messages. Retrieving, however... not so much. Get this: when I tried to retrieve from my Gmail account, using Selective Mail Download, Pegasus showed the headers for a bunch of OLD, PREVIOUSLY DELETED messages. I DON'T mean read messages that are still in my gmail inbox. I mean 431 messages spanning the time from 1-25-13 through 8-31-14 - messages which I had deleted from my gmail account long ago. Pegasus did NOT show any of the actual new mail that exists on my gmail account, nor any of the messages I've saved in other folders in gmail. (Out of curiosity I did add up all those messages in other folders, but there are more than 431, so that's not it.) I also checked Gmail "trash" folder - 431 oldies not there either.

My question is: why is Pegasus seeing those old messages; and why isN'T it seeing the new ones? Is this a Pegasus thing or a gmail thing?

Anyone who can lend insight, please post. Thanks.

The problem might relate to your POP3 setup. Can you retrieve mail normally, if not what response do you get from the server when connection is attempted?
