Trouble migrating to new build

I understand that you can also run pconfig.exe on a 32 bit machine and then copy the resulting pmail.cfg file to the Pegasus Mail executables folder on the 64 bit machine.   When you run pconfig set your mailbox locations to c:\mike\pmail\mail\~8.

Ta DA!!!!!

As Caisson recommended, I updated to V4.62 on the old machine, and moved it enmasse over to the new.  Still getting the incompatibility message when trying to run pcconfig though, so I tried Brian's suggestion, running pcconfig on the old machine, then copying the.cfg file over to the new.  No muss, no fuss, and we're cooking with gas!!

Thanks guys!

Present setup is pmail 4.52 on win xp 32 bit.  Moving to Win 7 64, and upgrading to ver 4.62.

Old Dir = c:\mike\email\mail\mike  (Note email, not Pmail)

New Dir = c:\mike\pmail\mail\mike (Left it as Pmail this time)

Old system, wife Cindy was also a user, and whenever either of us would bring up P, it would ask for a user name. Mike went to my stuff, Cindy went to hers, depending on which name you entered.

Followed directions on the FAQ by going thru help, info to get the paths to the mike and cindy dir's where at least 15 years worth of emails are stored. moved them successfully, then started P, but there is no asking which user.  My current emails are listed on the front page, but no access to the archives.  When I go to the pmail.cfg file, the working and new mailbox locations are identically named: c:\mike\pmail\mail\admin.

I had a similar issue YEARS back, and I sort of remember something about hanging ~8 somewhere, but I can't find the hardcopies on that.

I've tried editing admin out, and mike and\or cindy in, but it doesn't work, and it doesn't save.

So.... I'm stumped.  How do I get it to recognize both users, and to see the archived folders/files?  Did changing from \email to \pmail putz it up?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Admin is the name of the default mailbox.  You need to run pconfig.exe to point the program to the respective home and new mail boxes.

Tried to run it, but this error message came up:

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computers system infoto see whether you need an x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the SW publisher.

I initially thought I might have issues with P, moving to a 64 bit system, but I checked the forum, and saw plenty of folks that seemed to be doing just fine with what looked to be  the same or similar system as mine.

There is a program called DOSBox that you can use, however a better idea is to set up V4.62 as you want it in XP first, and then move the whole thing to the new box.

Then create shortcuts with appropriate user privs.
