At first sorry for my bad english, its not my native language ;-(

I try to setup a mailserver for my family which stores and selectas the incoming mails until they are downloades from the one who they belong.

Since years I have a "catch all" mail account for my family URL like   *@examplefamilywieser.de"  where I get all my mails. so my whole family

must come to me to read thier mails.

I hoped to use the Pegasus in the following way.

People send mails to  daughter@examplefamilywieser.de  or   mother@examplefamilywieser.de and so on.

I wanted to pull the mails down from my provider and store them in my own Pegasus mailserver from witch the family can download their own mails using a "normal" mail-client like OE or Thunderbird...

I hoped to make me a few named adresses and for the rest of the mails one "catch the rest" account to get really all mails which are sent to *anything*@examplefamilywieser.de

thats the challenge. I hope I described it so that you can understand what I have planned.

Now my problems:

I was able to setup a Test Pegasus Server named "MTestserver"

I was able to create testmails inside the Mercury server with the adress test1@MTestserver and was able to load them down with the Pegasus Mail Client from an other PC in the Network.

But now my Problems. The E-Mail adresses, I want to poll are "****@examplefamilywieser.de" and not "***@MTestserver"

And I do not alway know the *** before the @ so I need to create a Catchall account additional to the named accounts

so that are my 3 Problems:

- how to translate from @examplefamilywieser.de   to @Pserver   (or should I have to rename the MTestserver installation to the same name as my domain?)

- where are the Mails the Pserver has already successfully polled from my domain? I cant find them. I can load all mails down using the pop3client module from Mercury. But then the mails are lost.

I cant find them anywhere not in the scratch folder then anywhere.

- how can I create a "catchall" account on the Mercury Server?

I know this is much but I hope you can help me or may be you tell me Mercury is the wrong software, but it looked good from the beginning.

Now i kill my time trying to setup my family Mailserver ;-)

Thanks for every helping hand

one more Problem which is fixed with the "catchall account" (i hope it is)

Whats with names longer than 8 characters coming from my provider for example

"Brunhilde@examplefamilywieser.de" is this stored in a "central" folder from Mercury or

can handle Mercury this in no way ;-(

I wasn't able to create a user with more the 8 characters  until now.... so how to download it with a Mail-Client?

Thanks a lot

Actually you should be using Pegasus Mail and Mercury/32 to do this, it's a lot easier.

Do you mean a Mercury/32 mail server?

OK.

For this you need to do MercuryD and use aliases to alias the user@examplefamilywieser.de user@your.local.mercury.domain.  So that Mercury core will send the mail to the proper account.

Here the basic setup for Mercury and Pegasus Mail on a local home LAN getting mail from a ISP's domain account and delivering it to a local Mercury account.

1.  Install WinPmail in the multiuser mode on the "server".  Use c:\pmail
for the program; c:\pmail\mail for the mail directories.

2.  Run PCONFIG.exe from the WinPMail program directory and change the HOME and
NEW mail directory specification to the \\server\vol\pmail\mail\~8
    format.

3.  Go to the remote workstations and install a shortcut to the common
    program.

Ok, now you have the basic mail system setup.  You can send mail to each other using Pegasus Mail.

4.  Install Mercury/32 on this same server pointing to the Pegasus Mail
directory structure.  Use MercuryD, MercuryS, MercuryC at least. Use
\\server\vol\mercury\queue for the mail spool directory.

5.  Point MercuryD at all of your POP3 mailboxes to download the mail to
your Pegasus Mail user directories. Make sure you setup a local domain.

You now can send and receive Internet mail via Pegasus Mail.  The mail is delivered to the Pegasus Mail directories automatically.  You send mail simply but putting the output files into the Mercury/32 mail spool directory.  This is accomplished automatically with a Pegasus Mail User Defined Gateway.

6.  If you want to maintain other POP3/IMAP4 clients, point the client at
the at your Mercury/32 host as a POP3 and SMTP host using the Pegasus
Mail username and password to pickup the mail.
