Set up a Domain Mailbox (Configuration / Mercury core / Local domains).

So an entry

DM=myuser yourdomain.com

will put all mail into the mailbox of 'myuser'.

[/quote]

I found this in a few version by searching in this forum.
But I dont understand what to write in which form???
I find the  Configuration / Mercury core / Local domains).

but what have I to fill in???

Thanks a lot

bye

As the other thread you opened indicate that you use MercuryD to download mail from an external server, this is where you should define the catch-all account. In the POP3 mailbox settings there are two fields to handle this, depending on how you want it to work. Mercury help says:

Local user  If you enter the name of a local user on your system (one to which Mercury can deliver directly) then all the mail downloaded from the remote account will be sent to that local user, irrespective of the address fields in the message. If you leave this field blank, MercuryD will examine the To, CC and BCC fields of each message looking for addresses it recognizes as local. When it finds a local address, it will send a copy of the message to that local user. This facility allows you to have a single mailbox (called a Domain Mailbox by most Internet Service Providers) into which all mail for any users at a specified domain is placed; MercuryD can then retrieve the mail from that mailbox and route it to the appropriate local users for you.

Default user  When distributing mail from a domain mailbox, MercuryD may encounter messages for whom it can find no local recipient; this will commonly happen if one of your users subscribes to a mailing list, since mailing lists usually do not indicate the actual recipient anywhere in the message headers. In cases such as this, MercuryD can be told to deliver the message to a specific, or default user. If you leave this field blank, MercuryD will discard any messages for which it can find no local delivery addresses. This field is only meaningful when you have told MercuryD to distribute mail (by leaving the Local user field blank).

Yes, you are right, I load my mails from an other Mail system.

There I have a Catch all account. I can load all mails to Mercury without Problems ;-)

The only challenge is, that the mails are lost in the Mercury then ;-(  if the user is not known in the Alias Tool....

I wanted to select to about 10-15 names before the @ because I use mails like

ebay@

paypal@

and so on.

but I cant loose the rest because I dont know all Mailadresses I ever got to the people.

So I need a catch-all for the non recognized mails which remain after sorting out the mails for the children my wife a.s.o.  The Catch all should be able to be polled by me = admin

So I hope you see thats not an either/or solution what I need but an "User and catch the reat all" Solution...

Thanks for helping

In the MercuryD setup is you set the default user to your "Catch All" account  then all e-mail addresses where there is no match will be sent to this account.  From the Mercury/32 help:

Hello Thomas,

thanks a lot, the catch all works fine, and I can view all mails inside with my samsung mobile by IMAP4!!! ;-)

But the user    wife@familymercury.de    child1@familymercury.de now also comes to my default user account ;-(

Also she and the kids are added to the  user tool  configuration/manage local users/.....

Thats one of the things I tried to solve with this Mercury server, so that the kids and my wife get their own mails.

If this does not work, no problem, the things that work are really pretty ;-)

When I have time I try to fix the outgoing mail ;-)  From my server to googlemail it works ;-) To some other Providers I cant send .....  I think they dont like my Dyndns adress for the mailserver.....

regards

Now I need to look at your Mercury.ini file to verify your setup.  Just paste this into a reply to this post.

Were they added using the CTRL+Configuration+Manage local user or was Mercury rebooted after the entry.  If not this will not work since Mercury loads the users at startup.

Probably that's true, most SMTP host reject mail from a system that does not have a fixed IP address with a properly assigned host name and MX record.  Some reject when there is no PTR record (rDNS) entry.

You might try using your ISP's SMTP host as a relay host with MercuryC.

Hello Thomas,

I hope it does not matter that I have removed the real Dyndns Adress, I dont want scriptkiddies on my server ;-(

and I started the Mercury complete new after installing new users.

And the tip with the SMTP relay is good but my provider is a bit paranoia ;-)  there you cant simply connect.
As far as I know you have to poll with the same adress before otherwards he doesnt let you in even with the right password ;-(

Thats one more cause why I have to do this Mercuryserver
I even cant send with a thunderbird Client which hast IMAP instead of POP3  (even with the same outgoing server dates)

now here comes the ini

one more question, if if the end to end SMTP client is running he quickly starts to find the server of my "real" mailprovider and then there comes much troble i cant find my provider anymore with my winmail-client and the Mercury D even finds the Provider no more ;-)

(Network problem or something I think there exists more than one IP then for the DNS??)

The MercuryE makes much trouble by me so i have to shut down the complete Mercury,

then after a few second all works again fine. When I kill the MercuryE before he beginns to penetrate my provider all works fine ;-) Mails polling with POP3 from my provider IMAP with the Samsung even send with the Samsung via Mercury works ;-)

I only must never forget to kill MercuryE quikly after starting the Mercury Server.

Nevertheless I have learned much about mailhandling in the last 2 days ;-)

Actually it does make it a whole lot harder to test and you are not going to be blocking any of the script kiddies in any case.  They'll be looking at your ports as soon as you go ion line and they'll get this info almost immediately.

This can be a real problem but MercuryC can be set to connect and authenticate using a specific IP address, host name and matching authentication.

Forced SMTP sender  This field allows you to specify a single address MercuryC should always use in the SMTP "MAIL FROM" command when it asks your upstream "smart host" to handle mail for it. You may need to do this for some mail providers (such as Yahoo Premium Mail) that require the SMTP "MAIL FROM" to be the address of a known subscriber to their service. Setting a value here does not alter the "From" field in the message in any way - indeed, the only change the recipient might notice is in the Return-Path field. If you leave this field blank, MercuryC will use the contents of the "From" field when negotiating with the smart host, or the local postmaster address for system-generated messages.

I have a MercuryC test system setup to use the Yahoo SMTP host (better than the free GMail SMTP host) and this works quite well.  Worth the $19/year.

I have one server setup to use DynDNS but I would never try to use MercuryE with it since this sort of host name is rejected immediately by most SMTP hosts.

Looks good.

They will definitely reject on this since the .orgh will not resolve at all.

I even tried to look which possibilities are to configurate the MercuryE

a few moments later Mercury D lost network connection to my provider ;-(

I started Mercury again and killed MercuryE quickly  now its all OK again ;-)

Send me a message from your Mercury system to the techsupp@tstephenson.com address and I'll provide you with a bit more in the way of analysis and maybe a server for testing with MercuryC.  Paste a copy of your current mercury.ini file unmodified in the message.
