switching between users

Thanks for considering my problem. The cause of the problem turned out to be rather prosaic. The Options window for the problematic user had a reduced size. As such it did not show the controls at the bottom, in particular the OK button. And without OK no change... For the other user Options did show the controls, as I finally noticed.

Hello,

I have a question. Lately I noticed that I cannot find the menu entry "switch users" (I hope this is the right  english name, as I use the german version). If I remember

well, it was in the "File" drop-down. Unfortunately I haven't used that feature in a long time and due to updates, I have no idea when it dissapeared. Maybe in the newer

versions it is also a setting which I missed.

I would like to use it again, as I got some new mails, which use POP now after only web-service was allowed and I do not want to exit pmail every time I change the mailbox.

I see I can still add the other mailboxes to my mailbox directories, but unfortunately there I can read just the entries in the other mailboxes, but cannot download messages

from the server.

Hints would be appreciated!

Thanks, Peter

The File | Change user was removed since it caused Pegasus Mail to crash in many instances.  The best way to perform this function now is to run separate instances of Pegasus Mail.

1.  Right click on the WinPMail shortcut and select "Properties".

2.  Select the "Shortcut" tab.

3.  Edit the "Target line" to add the commandline option.

A commandline option will generally look like the following:

c:\pmail\winpm-32.exe -i thomas -ms

or when using long directory names

"c:\Program Files\pmail\winpm-32.exe" -i thomas -ms

You create a shortcut for each user you use quite often and one without the -I <username>.  Now all you have to do is hit the proper shortcut to have any user you want opened and running.

You can also just use "Add mailbox to list" to point at these other accounts and then associate an identity with each folder in the accounts so that forwards and replies will come from the correct user.

Think about using identities if you just want to use different email accounts with one instance of Pegasus Mail, there's no need to set up different users for doing so.

I have also a problem with multiple users.

I can select each user and access his data, but I can change Options / Basic settings (personal name) etc for one user only. When I change it for the others the changes disappear. (The program operates as standalone and starts with the -A option.)

I think part of the problem is with the commandline used to start both the first and the second username. I would expect to see something like

-roam -a -i vfa   on one and maybe

-roam -a -i vfi -ms on the second used to start as that username. All subsequent must have the -ms on command line to run multiple instances. See Help menu and commandline information.

Are you starting using Start meu, Command prompt or have you configure properties for two different desktop icons for those users?
