SMTP or MHS address

Thomas: that is amazing support! I went back to Pegasus, created a new message to myself, and noted that it went into the Queue Manager. A good sign.

Then I pulled up the support email that I had dumped tnto the Draft Manager, tried to send it, and it also headed off into the Queue Manage.

Told them to send, and off they went. [:^)]

Truly, I did not see any difference between what had originally been the settings, and the ones created by the Wizard. But either the wizard waved a magic wand, or Pegasus decided that if you were being called in to consult, it had better behave.

I am sure it was the latter. [:D]

PS: if ever I run into the problem again, I will check those SMMTP settings, and come back here, crying, with all the gory details. Have a good weekend.

Hello Pegasorum:

I have just installed the current version of Pegasus 4.63. I simply installed it over the older version I was using.

Many nice improvements! Thank you David Harris and the others who put so many hours on this program.

I have run into the SMTP problem, discussed by others.
The address 'support@somebody.com' could be either and SMTP or an MHS address. Please use an IN: or MHS: override on the address so WinPMail knows where to send it.
I looked at some of the answers, which mostly seem to focus on not having an SMTP set up properly. I did look at the Internet Options, and as far as I know, one is set up there. (It was always there before...)

I ran the configuration wizard for incoming and outgoing mail, just in case. Then I looked at it, and it was all exactly as it was previously. I deleted the extra entries (the ones that were now doubled, because of running the wizard), to try to avoid adding complications.

The two check marks at the end are:

"use for all outgoing mail regardless of address"

"send any mail in the queue during idle checks"

As I am connected by broadband, there is "no explicit dialling support."

I am able to receive mail, but am unable to send it.

I am running Pegasus on a Win XP Medic Centre Edition, SP 3, all patched, etc. I am the only user of the computer, and have never set up anything complicated -- as far as I know.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Peter

This a specific message saying Pegasus Mail  cannot find a valid SMTP queue. Something is wrong with the SMTP setup and it could also be identity specific.  If something is changed you must close the editor and try again since it does not see changes to the SMTP setup when the editor is open.

In order to help you really need to provide more specifics of what you have in Tools | Internet options | (Sending) SMTP.
