Recovering Pegasus files from "the cloud"

Thank you to caisson and olaf for your replies.  They were helpful.  Now I've got my fingers crossed that the files actually were backed up and retrievable!

 Best,  Michael

My computer recently crashed, wiping out all my data.  I think I had my Pegasus files -- including the address book and distribution lists, as well as catalogued email exchanges -- backed up via Carbonite, a service that automatically backs up files into the cloud.  Now that my computer is re-invigorated, I downloaded all my files from Carbonite, but cannot seem to locate any Pegasus files.  I have installed the most recent version of Pegasus, but it does not recognize any files, either.  So, two questions:

 (1) What would the file extensions and/or filenames be for Pegasus when they are backed up with such a service?  This will help in trying to locate files.

(2)  Once I have located and downloaded the files, how do I get the new version to read and catalogue the backed up files?

Thank you for your assistance.  It always has been very helpful in the past.

Michael

  1. One extension you may use for searching is PMM (folder main file). But that's only to locate the directory where formerly your mailbox was installed. You need all files there. Normaly that directory is "C:\program files\Pegasus\mail\<username>" or as especialy since WinVista and Win7 the recommended "C:\PMAIL\mail\<username>" or "C:\mail\<username>".
  2. Copy all files in that directory to your mailbox directory in your new installation (open Pegasus - help - about - info).
