Strange message when trying to send e-mails

However, if one goes to the Sympatico site, the recommended configuration is:

 Outgoing mail server (SMTP)

  1. SMTP Server: smtphm.sympatico.ca
  2. Port: 25 (or 587 if port 25 does not work)
  3. Authentication required: Yes
  4. TLS/SSL Required: Yes (select TLS if available, if not, select SSL)

This is exactly how I have configured Pegasus.

Then the next thing to do is turn on session logging  and get on the line with them with the session log in hand and ask them what the error message means.

I have my Pegasus  4.62 configured to send my outgoing mail through my Bell Sympatico (Canada) SMTP server. I have been getting the following strange message recently, despite the fact that I haven't changed any of my settings. The sending process stops at 3% and then I get the following:

 >> 0158 550 5.3.4 Requested action not taken; We noticed some unusual activity in your Hotmail account. To help protect you, we've temporarily blocked your account.

I don't understand the reference to Hotmail, as I am using Sympatico!

I've no idea what caused the error but it seems that Sympatico uses Hotmail servers (google provided this: http://download.gna.org/hpr/fetchmail/FAQ/sympatico-hotmail-pop-howto.html
