Pegasus mail crashes when opening emails, Win 7

Ok, understand....but I send the dmp file to you, and tried once more with only the PMDebug.exe but I did not get any cab or dmp file eventhough PM crashed.

That's a little bit odd, isn't it ?

I'd have to update or install IE 9 on my laptop before I can test if there is a difference between the browsers. So maybe tomorrow....

I have been using pegasus email for over 10 years and been happy with it. But now I'm facing troubles that I can not get fixed by myself. Hopefully you guys can come up with some ideas or solution..

I have Pegasus mail installed on a XP Pro computer and uses the "...\winpm-32.exe -e remote.cfg" from other computers at my home network. I have only been using Win XP on all computers and then everything worked fine. Now due to some hardware crashes I have upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate (32 bit) on 2 computers. Pegasus mail works fine on the XP comp., where it is installed, also on workstation with Windows 7 Ultimate with the "remote.cfg" command line. But I can not get it to work from my Dell D610 laptop, with same "remote.cfg" command line. It opens fine but crashes when I try to open an email or also when I try to close the program. It crashes Windows 7 so hard that I have to hardboot the computer. I have upgraded the pegasus mail to 4.63, also updated the IERender accordingly. Windows 7 is updated and running SP 1 on both computers. What can I do, I tried to install the minidump debugger, but I will not get any saved email when it crashes. And how to use that from a remote computer where the actual pegasus program is not installed ?

So now I'm out of ideas, tried to read all forums with crash and problems but still have not found the solution. Strange that it works from one Win 7 computer but not the other ?

Try starting Pegasus Mail via MiniDump's Pegasus Mail Debugger Start menu group shortcut (provided you had the installer create it).

I did that from the laptop without additional /switches just "..Pegasus\Programs\MiniDump\PMDebug.exe"

And I managed to open one mail, send one testmail but then when I tried to open one moreit crashed. And so hard that I have to hardboot the laptop.

After rebooting I went to the XP computer, started the pegasus mail there, but no saved messages ?!

How could there be one if you start an instance of Pegasus Mail on a different machine ??? The dumps (check for DMP or CAB files) are stored in the crashing machine's %TEMP% directory.

Sorry 'bout that...but I looked and there was no cab nor dmp file after the "first" crash..so now I tried starting "...PMDebug.exe" with the /catchall parameter. I managed to read one mail, send one, and then when I tried to read it crashed, but now I have a .dmp file on the laptop. And what should I now do ? and PS thank you for your ultra fast replies !!

One differance I noticed between the Win 7 computers, is that on the laptop I have Google Chrome as default browser, and on the workstation I have IExplorer 9...if that would make any differance...

Which isn't necessarily useful: Catch all, as the name says, catches all exceptions including the ones handled properly by the program code, and this might even extend to hundreds of large files, so it's usually an on special request only option. In general launching PMDebug without parameters should create a targeted dump by itself on crashing, if it doesn't it's rather unlikely that Pegasus Mail is the culprit. Please compress (ZIP or CAB or whatever) the dump and send it to <beta-reports [at] pmail.gen.nz> (the address should be provided by MiniDump's ReadMe file as well).

Shouldn't matter, but you can easily check it by changing for a test, can't you?
