Hello,

I work for company that

sends messages to employees via phone/pager. We receive emails from our customers

exchange server, and send them out as a message. Our Tech guy is not helping,

so I thought Id try this board. Im not real tech savvy myself, but Im desperate.

I have 2 machines running

Mercury version 4.01B. Both machines were working fine for years. But now one

of the machines has 2 problems. First, Im having about a 5 min delay from the

time I receive an email, and the time its sent out.

I also noticed that when

starting Mercury, there is a long delay (40 seconds) before it starts up. I can

see it as "not responding" in the task manager. Then It will come up,

but I still have a delay in getting my emails out.

I know I have an old

version of Mercury here, but is there anything Im missing?

Thank You,

One works properly, the other does not.

Mercury does not do very much on startup but read the mercury.ini and the user data into memory.  If this is a basic install to c:\mercury then it's generally pretty clean.

1.    Are you running any daemons?  If so I would try shutting them down and see if this helps.  This is especially true when running Spamhalter and the SQL file gets corrupted.

2.    I would check the hard drive to ensure it's not getting flaky.

3.    I would check all filters to verify that they are not causing the problem.  You can move the RULES.MER out of the Mercury directory on startup to remove the filters from the system.

4.    If you are running any policies then I would do the same with TASKS.MER to see if this helps.

I would also upgrade to v4.74, even if you have to pay for a license this would fix a number of v4.0x problems.
