These little semantics are very important clues about what might be going on.  A lot of the time, people get in trouble because they are not specific enough.

Sorry. I was replying to hfineberg's post. I've edited my post to clear that up.

I'll wait for his response before I go any further, due to what could be a complexity in doing it the way I suggested. If hfineberg is fine with editing files, and understands pointing, then it's probably an easy way to get it working, if there isn't any other hiccup elsewhere. If he isn't comfortable with editing files, then I won't pursue this method.

Your way would be an easier way for some dudes as there isn't any file modification necessary.

I have been using Pegasus for many years and for reasons that I won't bore you with it is installed and runs on drive/folder H:\PMAIL.

I now wish to move the program, mail folders, contacts etc. to another drive without losing anything.

Of course I can copy everything that is currently in H:\PMAIL to e.g. F:\PMAIL but how do I get it to recognise the new location?

I can see that in Tools/Options I can change the location of the mailbox but I wish to move the whole thing, lock, stock and barrel.

Your advice would be appreciated.

You should be able to just copy everything over to the new drive replicating the folder structure, go to the tools/options as you've found, update the mailbox location, and then update any shortcuts that you have pointing to the pegasus program.

Of course, you don't want to have Pegasus running when you do this, other than when changing the mailbox location.

I did as you said but an error appeared during the rebuilding (in the DOS window) and on restarting Pegasus the 'Copies to self' folder was missing.

There was a blank line in the folder listing  under My Mailbox as if it knew there should be an entry there but that's all.

Any further comment? 

If nothing else works - I have done this on several machines.

1.  Do a fresh install on the new drive.  Run the Pegasus installation download v 4.63

2.  Then run once but just put in minimal data.  Check the location of the Home Mail Directory-make sure it is correct, then close.

3.  Then, copy from old location ONLY the \MAIL subdirectory to the new, assuming it goes inside \PMAIL or whereever you put it.

4.  Run again - and rename the  home mail directory location if nec.  Should keep everything.  And I mean everything, settings, fonts, window sizes etc.

May not be the most elegant way to do it, but it has worked for me many times.   Let us know.

I've just done this myself and found the new pegasus pointing to the "old" pegasus.

The PMAIL.INI file has a few parameters that need updating, which you may be able to do using your favourite text editor.

Otherwise, try use the procedure kindly provided by esysfound, above.
