I tried a couple of times to add Identities and it didn't work out for me. I decided that having them each totally independent was best since they each cover specific periods of time dating from 1999 to today..

Thanks for the suggestion..   I will definitely keep in mind that this is an option and I sure do appreciate the advanced education. I suppose we learn to use our programs based on our needs and this was a need I didn't know I had before.....  Now I know it's an option and I thank you for passing along the information.

I'm struggling with some folder issues with two stand-alone Pegasus programs having gotten folders mixed together so that I've lost the emails I've stored away separately in each program and they are all mixed together.

As part of my attempt to fix this seemingly unfixable mess, I've attempted twice to both upgrade the latest program from 4.62 to 4.63 or install yet another stand-alone installation to 4.63, but each time I've tried to access the program from either the icon on the desktop or the exe file directly from the program files I come to a sign-in dialog box demanding an Admin User Name from me before I can access the program. I don't have such an Admin User Name as I am the only one using this computer and I've never entered an Admin name or ID.

How do I get around this and be able to either upgrade to 4.63 or make a new installation of this program? Now I'm afraid to install 4.63 for fear that I may get in one time and then get locked out when I don't expect it, which also happened to me once.

If this was a Pegasus Mail dialog box it would be asking for a username but it sounds like it is asking for Admin credentials which means it is a Windows dialog box and Windows doesn't think you have Admin permissions.  Is that the impression you have or does the dialog box not appear to be one generated by Windows? 

From what you said it sounds like you have two installations of Pegasus Mail, the upgraded one and a new install.  What is the path to the winpm-32.exe file for each installation?

Thanks so much for trying to rescue me. Another kind member answered this particular question for me and gave me some other guidance, so I have managed to resolve my situation... not perfectly, but it's workable now.

The dialog box is specific to Pegasus and the password, as it turns out, is "Admin."  In a new installation of 4.63 I did see it one more time, entered "Admin," and it's not asked me for it since. Actually, in poking around in some of the system files, I did see that password actually stated in the parameters

I really don't know what hit my PC and caused my Pegasus files to get fractured, but I've managed to remedy the situation by installing 4.63 as a new standalone and starting to download my mail into it and create a new filing system.

I now have four different installations of Pegasus, 3.11 (Very Old Files), 4.45 (Moderately Old Files), 4.62 (Holding the Current Files Which Were Fractured), and the new one 4.63 (Current New Files.)

Since I've been using Pegasus as not only a communication system but also a filing system for all my personal and business correspondence since about 1999, or earlier, losing access to my files was rather disastrous for me.  Suddenly I was getting all kinds of error messages on my PC (Win XP SP 3) telling me that I was out of resources and that programs were not initializing. I virus checked all the way down to the boot level and found nothing which could cause such issues.

But, I also found that suddenly the filing system in both 4.45 and 4.62 had gotten completely mixed together. In my attempts to fix that problem, everything imaginable fell on me.. to the point of totally losing access to these two programs and all of my saved files. When I tried to update with 4.63 I kept getting blocked by not having a password to get past the Admin dialog box.  By the time I finally came to this forum for help, I was really gnashing my teeth.

Back in the "old days" of the 3.11 version it was easy to just copy the entire "Mail" folder over to a new installation and everything was still there. The program has become too complex to use now and this no longer works. 

I've copied files over to the extent that by some miracle I can now get into each of the programs and I have started anew with 4.63. As long as I can access my older files, I'm not going to frustrate myself further by trying to clean up the filing system in the other two programs.  I just need to be able to get to them if I need them. Just to make sure that I'll always be able to get to them, I've backed up each of the programs onto my Seagate drive so they will be preserved no matter what happens.. unless a meteor falls on my house.

I've elected to give you the long answer just in case someone else has similar problems and my experience might be helpful for them.

After I posted I wondered if you knew about being able to add a subdirectory to the Pegasus folder list as a mailbox.  You said you now have four different installations which would indicate four mailbox subdirectories.  Adding any or all of those to the folder list of your new install would make the old messages readily available.
