"Hidden" subfolders and messages

I have seen that solution used when you're unable to see messages that were previously in the parent folder (tray?) I was reluctant to try it where messages in the child or sub-files were not retrievable.   I know the messages still exist and I did not want to do anything that might lose them forever. I'll search this site for instructions on how to do the hierarch.pm rebuild.  Thanks for your help.

Somehow, I've managed to create a situation where my folders and subfolders are gone.  In the past when I've lost my folders, the messages would still be visible.  Now, I can see messages that were in the folders but I do not see the messages that were in the subfolders.  I know that the messages that were in the subfolders are not gone for good because, a search using words that I know were in those messages that were in the subfolders returns a list of those messages (that were in the subfolders). It is interesting that the search results actually shows the name of the subfolder where I had stored those messages.  Of course, when I look for that subfolder it is nowhere to be found.

I don't really care about getting the folders/subfolders back, but I would like to retrieve the messages that were in the subfolders. I've referred to this forum many times but just signed on today.  Help! Many thanks.

Have you tried the often used procedure to rebuild hierarch.pm file? Close winpm-32 and go to home mail box location on drive and rename hierarch.pm to .bak. Then restart winpm-32 and check again. Your hierarchy should be rebuilt and all folders found displayed now, though any Trays would now be also at the top level. There is no automatic way to rebuild a tray structure. If all is there you would have to recreate trays if you desire to have them again.
