If you find yourself receiving a lot of formatted mail you may want to set the default view to be the formatted version.   To do this, enable the "Where a choice exists, display the fancy version" option located in Tools | Options | Incoming mail | Message reader. 

You can still use the View option to change between the plain and formatted versions if you want and if the message contains both a plain text and a formatted (HTML) version).

this may be easy for the veterans

Anyone know what I have to do or what settings to set to receive formatted email? I have a couple of business associates who send me email on what they call formatted email. For instance they will deal with certain questions and their response will be in a different color to distinguish the question vs their answer. Since I do see this they are telling me I must be getting my mail in just text form...how do I or what do I set to get both whenever people decide to use the color.

Maybe you want to just change the View when you receive those mails. When viewing the mail, press the V key (or the icon in the toolbar - it has two arrows and two pages - tip: "Switch between fancy and plain...").

Appreciate the tip also on the "V" key as well  I was not aware of that action.
