Just an update to my original query and the response from ms007.

I can now confirm also that on my Toshiba Satellite Pro L870-171 with an Intel CORE i5 2.5 GHz CPU using Win 8 Pro (64 bit) there was no problem in installing PMail v4.63.     I have set up PMail with my two ISP email addresses and it sends and receives messages correctly.

I am considering a new laptop, a Toshiba, which will have Win 8 Pro (64 bit) installed.  I had enquired about WIn 7 Pro as an alternative.

Will v4.63 install as a new application on such a machine?   Can I expect any problems?   I am not thinking of moving my primary PM + Message folder from my present desktop with Win XP Pro SP3.    I would just use the laptop to check basically any messages whilst wirelessly linked to my router.

I am using my laptop with Win 8 Pro 64-bit and german pmail 4.63 for some weeks now. Accessing the pmail office on a windows share via OpenVPN connection.

Didn't see any issues.

Many thanks ms007 for that feedback.   It calms my concern that it could be a problem!   The laptop will be connected to my BT broadband router using  ADSL2+
