Every email takes between 45 and 90 seconds to open!

Thanks. I am just so grateful to get it fixed. The printer driver on my system has never been reliable in the first place. Documents just printed when they felt like it and a lot of rebooting and swearing is always involved.  TIme to get rid of the $25 HP printer that came free with a lap top!

For the last year or so, my Pegasus Mail has changed horribly and I need to know how to troubleshoot it.  When I click on new mail or old mail, when I want to reply to something or move it, it just takes forever to open.

This seems to happen 90% of the time. The times when they open immediately I can't seem to tie into any pattern regarding what else is going on on my pc. It has nothing to do with whether I've just rebooted and Peg is the only thing that's open, I'm a single/home user, have loved and used Pegasus exclusively for 20 years. I thought it might be the free AVG I had, and when I removed it I noticed it got better for a couple of days.

I am using  Pegasus version 4.63 (Win 32) on a 64 bit WIndows 7 o/s.  I have 4 GB of RAM.The processor is an Intel Pentium Dual CPU E220 2.40 GHz.

Could it be a conflict between running a 32 bit program on a 64 bit system? I thought not, because this slowness didn't occur after any system changes. I know it used to be fine on this computer. So I am stumped. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

Wow that did it. Thanks!  I don't know whether to laugh or cry...  how many thousands of minutes of frustration and it got fixed in one second. I changed the default printer to some Microsoft writer and it solved everything.  Is this a problem with printer software? It may be psychological but it feels like my entire system is running more efficiently.

I don't think so, it's specific to Pegasus Mail and its editor/reader AFAIK.

I don't know the details only that Pegasus Mail interacts with the default printer driver in more ways than just during printing.

If you want to spend more time on this you could try installing an older or newer printer driver for your printer and see if Pegasus Mal likes it better.

I have never run into this problem in all the years I have been using Pegasus Mail and all the printers I have had so I would be curious whether a different driver would solve the problem.

Thomas Stephenson answered this questions several times at PM-WIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU as he did here and here. Good ol' Thomas!
