Creating sub-folders in IMAP?

In Mercury a folder can contain either messages or sub-folders but not both, so you need to keep that in mind.

I'm attempting to migrate my email from a public server to  private server using Mercury/32. So fr everything is going well except for one thing. I'm using Thunderbird as my mail program and under the old server my archived messages were stored in sub-folders by year. I'd like to create that same structure on my new server. Is there any way to create sub-folders under a directory I.E. sub-folders 2010,2011,2012 under the main "Archive" folder in Thunderbird? Thanks!!
