Queued message Size showing as only 0.3 kb

Thanks to all for the replies.

As suggested I have used WIn Explorer to identify and delete the PM0 and associated PNX files with PM shut down (having the message folder first , of course!).

The only PM0 file is the current one for the <DESKTOP.PM0 > with today's date.    All appears to work now on opening PM with an empty Draft Manager folder

I am using Win XP SP3 with PM ver 4.63.

I have just noticed in looking at queued messages either just text, or with an attachment, the size is shown as 0.3 kb.   Is this normal as I thought I read somewhere that the message size was to be shown in latest version?   Or is there a problem with my installation?  Nothing came up on a Forum search.

It appears that PMail queries the directory only for the *.pmo files and reports the size.
The *.pmo files contain the instruction/headers, the .pmx files contain the message body.
Depending upon addressing, subject, etc., .pmo files will range approximately 200-600 bytes in size.

winpm-32.exe QueryDirectory D:\PMail\MailBox\*.PMO SUCCESS Filter: *.PMO, 1: MGKLQ7L9.PMO Read Metadata

Thanks for coming back, Guy.  I wonder why the Queue Manager list of messages to go should only show the header data size - seems odd to me, or is there some reason that it is difficult to code for the size?   The size is shown correctly for attachments to a message...?

I have looked at my  C:\PegasusMail Messages folder and amongst the hundreds of files I can see one PMO dated today  as
DESKTOP.PM0    1kB   PM0 File  02/02/2013    17:07
presumably as I have no messages waiting to go?
Plus three more dated back in 2005/6
5D92E1C3.PMO    0kB      PM0 File      17/11/2005
TTN9A41H.PMO    0kB      PM0 File      20/09/2006
0ZKECJD0.PMO    0kB      PM0 File      12/10/2006

These last three files always appear in my Draft Manager window when I open it and even deleting didn't stop them from re-appearing next time!    I think there was a thread some time ago about curing this -  Yes!  under "6 Empty Queued emails" in 2007 and also "A Pesky Blank Saved message", but I'm not sure it worked for me.   Perhaps I should try again  with this new ver 4.63?

DESKTOP.PM0 == desktop.pm0 ; that is a P M 0(zero) file.
Queue Manager behaviour is similar to Draft Manager.
Also note that attachments are not "attached" until the message is actually sent.
A Queued/Saved message only has a pointer to the attachments.

When checking for the saved messages you want to delete use file manager tool or win explorer to locate the files and delete them while winpm-32 is closed.

"PNX files are the RTF version of the message bodies of any queued and

draft messages that contain formatted text. The name part of the file is

the same as the corresponding .PMO or .PMX or .PMW file. There should

be no .PNX files without a corresponding other file." Final form messages are .pmx files. All above are stored in your  home mail box location for each user which is normally in ..\ pmail\mail\~8 or default c:\pmail\mail\admin location or if old single user setup c:\pmail\mail location. Be aware your system may contain both as old and new home mail box locations.

You can use something like Wordpad to open any of the above file extensions as it will handle both text and RFT formatted files and you can read and identify what these old files actually contain.
