Greetings from Texas USofA,

I keep getting these popup Floating Alert for messages to one of my sub accounts yet there is not a message.  While logging in here there was another alert there were two (2) more.  Pegasus Mail v4.63 build 325 Dec. 22, 2011.  This is getting to be annoying.

Do you have any filters that forward a message and then move it to another folder or delete it?  If so, that forward filter allows the message to temporarily hit the new mail folder triggering the new mail notification.

Greetings Mr.Brian,

None of my filters 'Delete' nor forward any messages at all.  I have seven (7) filters, Tools/Mail filtering rules/Create_edit general rule set..., set to 'move' only to the SPAM Halter folder, no other filters are set for any reason.  There are not any rules set in any of the other three (3) filters they are empty (MT).

Greetings again,

Just discovered there was an issue in the 'Tools/Internet Options' for the POP3 server on that one sub-account that the issue was with, about the Floating Alert window, have two sub-accounts plus a primary. It seems some how that one account had the check box for 'Count messages when checking, and do not download' along with the other check box 'Delete mail on server once it has been successfully retrieved' with Download control tab to 'Download' all mail.  It was not supposed to have been set that way, required all mail to be downloaded to my computer.  Some how that change was made and not by me.  Do not think it is a bug, maybe there has been a virus infection on my system because it has been acting strangely the last couple of weeks or more.  I do regular scans using antivirus software and several malware software that has proven to me they are successful at protecting as well as working together.  Will conduct a very thorough scan and report if any are found.  This will be done over several days before any report will be made.

Thank you for at least giving some advice, that prompted me to investigate further

This is a new one to me so wish to make sure I understand what you are saying.  I get that you had the 'Count messages when checking, and do not download' setting enabled on one of your POP3 host configurations.  What I want to make sure I understand is that when that host was checked for messages there would be some detected on the server causing the activation of the new mail notification floating window even though no messages were downloaded.  Is that correct?

bfluet,

That is "Affirmative"  your understanding is Correctly handled.  Redundant?

bfluet,

That is a yes, the moderators are wanting to view my messages before posting, do not know why this requirement was placed upon my posts, but; that is what they want to do then I guess it will do for now.  I did not set it that way, that was how I found it set.  Have been on other projects today all day and will get to the scanning maybe tomorrow some time.  It has worked just fine since my re-establishing my use of PegasusMail.  Have been away on other software because of my Wife not liking the settings or now it operated.  Do not know what her problem was.   Now that she is gone since 13 May, 2012 my move was to return to Pegasus.  I love it and want to see v5.xxx whatever to get back into the swing of things.

There are several issues with this v4.63 that I do not understand, but; that will need another thread.  Later . .

Thanks!  This is good to know.  I would not have thought that the new mail notification function would get triggered by checking mail on server without downloading.  Just goes to show the depth of thought David has put into Pegasus Mail.

I never even thought about it at the time, there was a message count for that specific UserName included in the Alert Window.  Reading your message made me think, not accustomed to doing that, and remembered seeing the count.  That should also given me a clue, as usual, CLUELESS!!!

"bfluet",

Another feature of PegasusMail as I just noted is that when a message is downloaded but filtered by SPAMHALTER and moved to your SPAMHALTER Folder there is not a Floating Window Alert of any messages downloaded.  The only way I have of knowing this is I have set the color for unread messages to RED and the Folder that the message is moved into becomes the color RED until you select it and change that state to "READ"!!  As long as it remains "UnRead" the color will stay RED.
