Autoreplacement

Sorry, I posted too soon and couldn't delete anymore either. Here are three reasons why 'autoreplacement' didn't seem to work for me:

 1. New entries are added not in alphabetical order, but at the bottom of the list, so I didn't see my new entries.

2. I tried to get Pegasus to replace ANSI text with Unicode text, but it can replace only ANSI text with ANSI text

3. Text gets replaced when pressing the space bar, while I tried it out using the 'Enter' key which doesn't work.

The autorplc.pm file doesn't always seem to get updated when a new 'autoreplacement' entry is added. I haven't figured yet out why.....

Adding the Unicode text to the autorplc.pm file and then saving it (with the unicode) option doesn't help either.

So, what I wanted to do seems impossible.

I have the options box checked to Enable autoreplacement of common typos and abbreviations - but it's not working. Is there something else that's required to enable this feature?

It might depend on what you consider 'common' in the way of typo's. I found some of my most consistent mistaken keystrokes are not in the default dictionary. Try adding the ones that aren't being corrected to yours (dictionary) and see if that helps.

Just an idea off the top of my head.

Test whether autoreplace is working.  Compose a message with the word abbout instead of about  and you should see it get corrected.  If that is working then I suggest you look at Autorplc.pm (in Pegasus Mail executables directory ie c:\pmail or c:\pmail\programs) which contains the incorrectly spelled words and the corrections.  If the words you typically mis-spell are not in this file, simply add them.

Further to my previous posting on this topic, the AutoReplace feature can be found on the Pegasus Mail main menu at Tools/Options/Automatic formatting, for ease of editing.

I also have the 'Enable autoreplacement' option enabled and have tried 'add'ing a few 'autoreplace entries', but they don't show up in the 'Autoreplacement' list. It looks like 'Autoreplacement' is not working, at least not in WinPMail version: Version 4.63 (Win32), Dec 22 2011, build ID 325 with Windows version: 6.1 (7 Enterprise).

Any suggestions?
