Pegasus cannot see files converted from Outlook

Hello again

I had forgotten a utility I wrote some time ago, which downloads email messages from Outlook folders to Pegasus Mail NewMail directory. It is available at my website at http://www3.telus.net/public/irelam/pm2msm.zip  It will migrate one folder at a time so if  you have a lot of folders to do, it might be too laborious. One caveat: you should ensure your Newmail directory is empty before running the migration, so you can then move the messages to their proper new folders.

HTH  any questions on its use, fire me a note

I am trying to move from Outlook to Pegasus Mail on a new computer.  I do not have Outlook on my current computer, so I am trying to convert from an Outlook.pst file created on Microsoft Outlook 2007 ver. 12.0.6668.5000 SP3 MSO, running in Windows XP Professional ver. 5.1.2600 SP3 Build 2600 on a Fujitsu Lifebook T4220.  My current environment is an Acer Aspire M, running Windows 8, ver. 6.2.9200 Build 9200.  I have installed Pegasus Mail, ver. 4.63 Build 325.

I purchased Transend Migrator which seems to have successfully created files in my PMAIL\MAIL\<userid> folder - 1252420.pmm 2,328 KB and 1252420.pmi 0KB - but Pegasus does not see them. Despite looking through FAQs and forum and trying various things that I found there - I have lost track of the things I have done, but they include moving the files to a sub-folder and creating a new mailbox pointing at it, checking the integrity of the .pmm file with mbxmaint_ui.exe (the file reports as clean), looking in Hierarch.pm (the location reports correctly) - I cannot see converted folders and emails.  The best I have gotten is that two Outlook folders (of about 40) appeared in My Mailbox and one Outlook folder (a different one) appeared in the new mailbox, none with any contents.  I enabled Address Book conversion in Transend Migrator, as well, which has successfully migrated to Pegasus, so the problem does not seem to be in the conversion.

I have, I think, run out of existing options.  I would be grateful for advice and/or assistance to complete this conversion. I will also need to convert an Archive.pst file, if I can get the current emails to appear.

 Thank you.

The index file 1252420.pmi is empty, so the folder won't be listed from its content.  I suggest you re-index the folder 1252420.pmm which will create a new index file. You should see the folder appear in your Folder list. Right click on it and select Re-Index from the menu displayed

Thank you for the reply.  For those folders that appear in Pegasus, your solution worked, but most of the folders from Outlook.pst do not appear in Pegasus so I have nothing to right-click.  Is there a way to index the .pmm file directly or through a utility?

Thanks

MBXMAINT_UI.EXE in the directory containing WINPM-32.EXE: It'll tell you what to do after launching it via double-click.

Thank you for your help.  Your suggestions have worked for all the outlook files that were actually converted by Transend Migrator.  I decided to look inside the .pmm that Migrator created and, although it reported the conversion of all the folders I had in Outlook, it did not, in fact, include them all in the .pmm file it created.  I had previously used a converter to created .mbox files for another reader (Clawsmail) that I was testing and I tried converting them to .pmm files using Migrator and it has done the same thing, reported completion without converting some of the files.  So it appears that I have a Migrator problem after all.  Something you might want to know about Migrator's performance.

Thanks again.  Sorry to have troubled you about something that was not your problem.
