Thanks, that's what I have done and my work-around is based on those logging settings which in conjunction with an unread 'dummy' message in my inbox (which alway triggers a 'dummy' rule) makes the message window appear even when there is no other rule being triggered.

I thought there might be another switch to allow the message window to alway show.

I wonder whether there is a switch or way to get the PM 'system messages window' to always show on PM start up?

A work around I found is to create a 'dummy' rule e.g. which 'Always triggers' to e.g. play a mini .wav and then just leave a unread message at the end of your inbox to trigger it ... well, it works, but is there a more elegant way?
