It's just been mentioned two posts up the thread: Read this post and do as advised.

I have been using Pegasus Mail for Windows for many years. I run Win7 64-bit. In the past 6-8 weeks or so, Pegasus Mail has been frequently, maybe 4 or 5 times a day, crashing. I can't find any commonality or predictive symptoms; once I noticed that I had an email starting to be sent that had a large attachment, but most of the time nothing specific was going on. It has crashed while online as well as when offline.
I apologize that this isn't very helpful. Is there any diagnostic information that I can gather to help either better characterize the problem better or, ideally, solve it? One more thing - when Pegasus Mail comes back up after the crash, it comes up much faster than when normally starting it. Thanks!

Hi idw,
Since last few weeks, I am also having these type of crashes on my WinXP Pro (Service Pack 3) 32-bit + WPM 4.63 + Bearhtml 4.6.10.1 + IERenderer 2.4.7.6, specially when trying to send emails with attachments.
When I try to send an email, I get following Error though I have already done get mail before sending:
Delivery has failed on the enclosed message for the following
reasons reported either by the mail delivery system on the mail
relay host or by the local TCP/IP transport module:
421 Authorization failed: please authenticate by doing get message
first
This error also generates "Mail Delivery Failure" error messages in New mail folder. After trying 4-5 times, the mail goes through, By that time there are 4-5 error messages in New mail folder, and when I try to delete them, WPM crashes.
I have already sent the error description and dump file to beta-reports@pmail.gen.nz on July 30, 2013.
Further,
I have also installed Thunderbird email client, which can send the
emails without any problems using my same SMTP provider settings.
Sometimes, even while moving messages from one folder to another, WPM crashes.

As far as I understand you're reporting at least three different issues here:
1. An issue with sending attachments.
2. An issue with authentication.
3. An issue with crashes.
Maybe they are all connected somehow, but we need to keep things separate for finding appropriate solutions.
1. Try sending attachments with an extended timeout value in your active SMTP definition's General tab.
2. Enable Do a prior POP3 login to authenticate before sending mail on the same definition's Security tab.
3. I'll get back to you about the crashes once I've got enough time for taking a look at the crash dump you provided.

Hi,
I seem to have the same problem of crashes. Usually, it crashes when I try to open certain emails. I am using imap.
I am running Win 7 64 bit.
The problem only started recently.
I suspect it could be some of the new windows updates.
I installed minidump, but can't seem to find any dump files. There is no autosaved message. Tried looking in the Windows %temp% folder, but could not find anything. Any clues what filename to look for?
At the moment, there is a particular email that always causes a crash in my inbox. I can replicate the crash. Who can I fwd this email for testing purposes?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Basheer
Hi,
I am running v4.63 for a while.
I downloaded the latest versions of bearhtml and ierenderer from this site.
Now some of emails that used to crash PM stopped crashing. I still have one email that always crashes PM.
So, it is improved but not yet fixed.
Regards
Basheer

Don't assume it's the same, this is only rather rarely the case.

Unlikely, otherwise we would see lots of people complaining.

Depends on what actually was going on. You may need to run PM hosted by the MiniDump debugger: If you had the installer create its Start menu shortcuts (otherwise do a re-install with this option enabled) you'll find a respective shortcut (named something like Debug Pegasus Mail) in MiniDump's Start menu folder. For details see MiniDump's ReadMe file (there should be another shortcut opening it easily).

Please send it to beta-reports [at] pmail.gen.nz, this post describes how to do it in detail. Please add a note refering to your forum post.

One similarity in my and Baheer's issue is - recently I too downloaded the latest version of bearhtml / ierenderer.
I am not sure about ierenderer, but I definitely downloaded bearhtml.
Thanks & Regards.
I would appreciate it if you could send me a copy of the complete message, to irelam@telus.net and I will check it through my latest version of Bearhtml (4.6.10)
Thank you
Martin (author of Bearhtml)
Hi,
More info on the problem:
1. If I rename ierenderer.fff to something else, I believe bearhtml kicks in.
- The crashes stop, but I get some garbage html code at the top of some emails.
2. If I use ierenderer.fff then a strange thing happens.
- If I view the email in my imap profile, Pmail crashes.
- If I copy/move the mail to my newmail inbox (non imap) I can open the mail without a crash!
- only certain mail causes crashes.
Regards
Basheer

IER can easily be disabled using its menu accessible via its toolbar button, there should be no reason for messing around with configuration files.

Do you have automatic remote image download enabled by default?

Hi,
Firstly, thank you for all your help.
I downgraded IE10 to IE9 and its working again! No more crashes so far.
I don't mind sticking with IE9 as I hardly use it any case.
FYI, I do not have automatic image download turned on.
Thank you for all your assistance.

Basheer

While I'm glad you could fix your issue I would still very much like to look into it so I can possibly fix it once for all: Did you ever provide a sample message to us for testing? Did you even submit a crash report like described in this post? Since we get lots of spam to the beta-reports account mentioned up the thread you need add a pretty obvious subject for such a message so I can filter it out without having to look at all messages' contents.

I received a copy of a crashing message and will forward it on to MIchael. No problems here using Bearhtml, and Tidy does not show any strange problems.

I followed the forum suggestions of being sure I was at the most recent version (I wasn't but now am) and checking the version of IERenderer - it was the most recent version. But PMAIL still is frequently crashing. How can I next debug the situation? Thanks. --Dilip
