PM wants username after computer crash

Whoa--I must have misremembered the order. Problem solved--thanks!!!

Whoa--I must have misremembered the order. Problem solved--thanks!!!

I'm running Windows 8 and have been using this from command prompt to start PM: [external drive letter:\]\pmail\winpm-32.exe -a -I -roam admin

Computer crashed during the night (PM was open but in offline mode), now all that gets me is a request for a username. "Admin" doesn't work. Looking with windows explorer, none of the files in the pmail directory appear to have been modified in the past 24 hours. I have NO idea what un I used to set up this program many years ago. After the first try, running the command prompt again does nothing at all that I can see--I don't even get a un request. (Will restart and try again.)

On restart.......Did the command prompt thing again. The PM logo flashes briefly--but vanishes instantly. After minimizing other windows, there's still no PM--not even a username request. When I try it again, no logo, nothing at all--as if the program is already open but hidden (doesn't show in Task Manager, so I assume not). Command prompt starts me in C:\Users\[myname] if that's relevant, and cd e:\ (or anything but cd c:\ doesn't change directories.

Also--just noticed my Skype asked for pw rather than logging on automatically. Might be a clue as to what happened during crash?

Running Windows 8 and (I think but cannot check) the current version of PM--certainly I upgraded to the current version in the past year, probably earlier this year. Standalone computer.

Suggestions welcome; my life is on hold. Many thanks!

Command line should have the username following the -I switch (eg: [external drive letter:\]\pmail\winpm-32.exe -a -roam -I admin).  This could just be a typo in your original post.

Sounds like winpm-32.exe isn't being found.  See if Win8 still has the same drive letter assigned to the external drive that you use in the command line.
