Re:saving messages to a file without the raw view info

[quote user="bobbiev"]

I want to save all of the messages in a folder to a file without all the header/raw info.  Can this be done?

I am running the current version of Pmail on Win 7 32 bit.

Thanks, Bobbie

A solution is to use pdfCreator: select all the messages you want to save and then choose 'Print', as specific printer choose pdfCreator, choose 'Print significant headers only' , you can check or uncheck 'Collate' if you want one .pdf file for each message or a .pdf file including all the messages you selected.

Regards

surely you need to store things like Date_sent, From, and Subject from the headers?  As for body, this can only easily be done for plain text, as html based message text is in a complex sequence of html tags and programming languages such as Javascript or CSS, and interspersed with actual text.

Can you explain what you are trying to achieve here please?

Choose email tab; Raw View.

  1. Hit Ctrl-A ("Select All" key sequence) then hit Ctrl-C ("Copy Highlighted" key sequence)
  2. Right-Click in a Windows folder.  Choose; "New" --> Text Document
  3. It will create a new file such as "New Text Document.txt".
  4. Open  "New Text Document.txt"
  5. Hit Ctrl-V ("Paste" key sequence)
  6. Hit Ctrl-S ("Save Document" key sequence)
  7. You now have a TXT file containing the Raw Header and Body of that email.
  8. Rename  "New Text Document.txt" to something more appropriate suggestive of the subject of that email.

The header information will still be there but you can manually remove it.  However, it is contraindicated to do so.

NOTE:   You can also rename (the unedited file) from "New Text Document.TXT" to "New Text Document.EML".  This way it can be attached to another email and the recipient can open as an email message attachment or you can Double-Click on the .EML file and you can view it in an alternate email application associated with the .EML extension such Outlook Express and Winmail.
