Running Mercury on Windows Server 2012.

Been working with MS Exchange for a long time now - want to look for alternatives for home as well as for enterprise. And for being a very happy user of Pegasus Mail back in the times, I am looking at Mercury.

But... I want to run it on a *NIX server or Windows 2012 R2 server... and reading this thread scares me a bit. When is Mercury 4.7 (EDIT: sorry...i mean ver.5) expected to be available? And will it support Win2012 R2 fully?

Best regards, Lars.

Hi,

I am in the process of transferring all our stuff into a new domain and onto servers which run server 2012.  Has anyone else used Mercury on server 2012 yet, if so do you have any tips to pass on.

I note in particular that I can no longer set the processor affinity in task manager in the same way as I could on Server 2003 R2, I hope that this will not cause me any issues.

Thanks for your help

I moved back on to a server 2003 system.  We are also in the process of making other changes on our network and those have priority right now.  Sorry.

No major adjustments should be required for Mercury when moving from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2012. As with all recent version of Windows there are some things to consider though:

- Do not install Mercury in the Program Files (or Program Files(x86)) directory as Windows won't allow programs write access to sub-directories.

- Session 0 isolation will block access to console windows if Mercury is running as a service. Version 5 of Mercury will provide a separate UI, but until that it's probably better to run Mercury in program mode.
