Autofiltering quit working on one folder

The help files associated with Autofiltering Folders will tell you all you need to know.

Multiple email addresses can be associated with a folder regardless of whether they are from one individual or several.

Greetings all;

I have autofiltering configured for several folders so incoming mail gets deposited in this or that appropriate mail folder. Been working great up til a few days ago when one folder seems to not be working. In other words, mail from <name of sender> refuses to get moved into his folder. I tried moving all this folder's messages to another temp folder, deleting the original, creating another and configuring autofilter again specifying all the criteria for proper filtering, etc. Still no go. I drag & drop his messages into the configured folder, still doesn't work.

 It's not a really big deal but now that I've been using autofiltering I find it really handy. Would like to have it back for this folder but it isn't a life altering issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks ...

Have a look at the CFDEFS.PM file in your mailbox. Assuming the entry for that folder is there, delete it and start the autofiltering process for that folder again.

That seems to have done the trick. Thanks. I was a little paranoid about editing the CFDEFS filie, though, since there's a comment in it that implies it's not intended as a user editable file.

 With respect to autofiltering in general - if I have a sender with more than one return email address or have more than one sender that I want to have 'autofiltered' to a particular folder, is this something that the feature is designed to deal with? I think my problem stemmed from the fact that I had rec'd emails from this particular sender with varying return addresses. Such things as stuff he'd forwarded from other sites.

 Just curious.
