Setting up SSL in Pegasus to suit Telecom NZ requirements

Ta thank you, yes I am approaching them with this issue

Cheers, Andy

Ta thank you, yes I am approaching them with this issue

Cheers, Andy

Users in New Zealand will have heard of the Telecom NZ requirement that Pegasus be set up to use SSL. This is because Telecom does not run its own e-mail system but instead gets Yahoo to do it and Yahoo has severe security problems.

I have downloaded and saved David Harris's instructions for Pegasus v 4.41, and they worked fine on my temporary machine (XP) and another Pegasus version.

This time I am trying to get David's instructions to work on my partner's machine under Windows 7 Premium ( = basic) edition.

For both Pegasus V 4.41, AND the latest version, I can RECEIVE mail using the SSL set-up, but cannot send it as Telecom refuses. Wrong protocol or something.

I double-checked that I did everything correctly.

Please advise. Brian

Hi Brian,

Have you checked this FAQ on Telecom's website. http://www.telecom.co.nz/helpandsupport/helpandsupport/xtraordomainemailsettings/

I don't use xtra, but settings should be straight forward

Hello astina6,

Yes, just checked that out, and it also conforms with the instructions given by David Harris.

I do have the settings set as required. Brian J

Hi Brian,

Can you post for the forum, the exact message Telecom sends back?

Similar issues to Brian J, I have the correct Telecom settings but sending is completely hit and miss. These issues started roughly 10 days ago, when I upgraded to Ver 4.7

Error message is:

12:08:56.310: >> 451 4.3.2 Internal server error (6530)

Did you read the previous posts in this thread? Did you try the SSLv3 setting as recommended there? But you might have a different issue to cope with if it's really what it claims to be, an Internal server error (6530). And, BTW: You posted your username and password in an easily decodable format from the log file (the second last contains the password), so you should at least change the latter ASAP.

So since it's an internal server error you will have take it up with your provider, I'm afraid.
