two things.
1. CSV will always be available, and there should be an option, in the source exporter, to select the field delimiter. It can be a comma or a tab. For import to Pegasus Mail it must be a tab
2. The order of the field data is critical and must be identical. Secondly, fields such as Firstname and Lastname do not have an equivalent in Pegasus Mail but exist as a Fullname field. Importantly the physical address data is structured completely differently. In most sources the individual parts of a mailing address are in separate fields, ie Street Number, Street Name, Town etc. In Pegasus Mail these are combined.
In order to match field name orders, the source CSV must be imported first to a program such as MS Excel, and the columns re-arranged (dragged) to match the Pegasus Mail order. To get the Pegasus Mail order, use the following field names and lengths:
Alias (40) (* Fullname *)
Company (40) (* companyname *)
Key (12) (* unique search key *)
Street (60) (* first part of postal address *)
Post (56) (* remainder of postal address *)
Phone (24) (* phone number *)
Fax (24) (* fax number *)
Notes (79) (* general notes *)
Address (99) (* Email address *)
Picture (8) (* filename of an icon sized image, ie martin.bmp *)
Some comments that might help.
1. The Alias (fullname) in Pegasus Mail will typically match the "displayname" in other address books
2. The Key in Pegasus mail will typically be some combination of lastname + firstname. In my case Martin Ireland would possibly be irelandmar
3. Only the Alias and Address fields are mandatory.
Hope this can help, but I recommend going the VCard route, as these irritations are solved.
Martin
