For the last 10 days or so I have had intermittent failures sending mail via my ISP (Telecom NZ / Xtra, who use Yahoo for email handling). The transcript window that appears shows the transaction terminating with the message >> 0040 451 4.3.2 Internal server error (6530) or similar.  This affects say 25% of messages.  On creating and resending a failed message, I may have to do this several time before it will transmit ok.

This issue persists with both ver 4.63 and ver 4.7 It does not seem to be related to message size or the presence of attachments. A problem with it is that after the error occurs, Pmail deletes the outgoing message, so to get the message to the recipient it has to be retrieved from the Copyself folder and any attachments added once again.  I have tried the  "Only use SSLv3" setting with no improvement.

My questions: (a) Is this purely a problem with my ISP (who have not as yet responded to requests for help)   (b) Even if this is an ISP problem, why does Pmail delete the unsuccessfully transmitted outgoing message and provide only a Mail delivery failure report which makes resending the message a chore?  (c) Any suggestions about how to fix this very annoying problem?

A typical transcript follows:

 [*] Connection established to 124.108.96.158

Have you looked at the Telecom NZ thread below yours?  You need to persevere with the ISP.

I have exactly the same issues and I have forwarded the error message to the Telecom Support Team. So far I have not had any response. I suggest you do the same, as this would appear to be a problem at their end and it may hurry them up a bit.

I am trialling the "Only use SSL v3" setting for both Sending and Receiving mail (since sending mail utilises a userID verification from the POP3 definition).  So far so good.  The reply from Telecom help was of very little use - they said check the settings and try another email client, before they would look at their system.
