Pegasus crashes after use of spell check
Yes, there was a dialogue asking for giving details of the encountered trouble, it began: „Pegasus Mail's system information couldn't be attached due to the actual crash conditions. Please open Pegasus Mail's 'Help' menu, select 'About Pegasus Mail...' and press the 'Info' button ...“  I was not able to open the attachment.
You cannot open the attachment from the dialog, but only after restarting PM when it prompts you for an "auto-saved" message which you need to complete (I'll think about offering direkt access to that file from this dialog).
I followed the instructions and have now sent the mail containing all requested information to the given mail address and have had the automated answer mail. I understand there will be no personal response to my message.
You'll get a personal reply from me (but not necessarily from David Harris) once I take a look at the info you supplied, and it might even contain more details as far as I can provide without having access to the source code.
However how will I (and others of whom I know they have the same problem) learn of a solution to the described hitch? I assume it will probably only be the case when version 5.0 is released and we will discover that spell check does (hopefully) work faultlessly?
It's very likely there will be a version 4.71 not too far from now. Whether the official announcement will refer to your particular issue depends on the impact it has and it's relevance compared to other issues.
If anything comes to mind which would involve to delve deeper into the workings of Pegasus and could be executed by the user in version 4.7
If we need further assistance or can figure out a workaround you'll certainly get notified about it one way or another.

Hi, I have updated to 4.70 and do now encounter problems with Pegasus crashing on me.

After running spell check right up to the question if do I want to start it again to which I answer 'NO'  -  then Pegasus disappears leaving me having  lost the prepared mail altogether.

Hope you can assist. Thank you.

Thanks for your answer. However this thread: http://community.pmail.com/forums/40439/ShowThread.aspx#40439

doesn't seem to cover my problem. I don't miss the 'Don't send' button, I lose Pegasus altogether as described.

The thread topic says "Pegasus crashes.." but your description sounds like the new message window goes away.

If the spell check is being triggered when you hit the send button then once you hit "No" the message gets sent.

Doesn't normally the question if one wants to keep a copy and in which folder follow the spell check?

Once I hit 'NO' the whole program breaks down. The prepared mail is lost, not sent at all.

When I restart I receive a message that probably someone else is using it, which I answer with 'continue' nevertheless the previously typed mail is lost. Not in auto save nor anywhere else.

Have now deactivated spell check, but do miss it somewhat badly.

Yes, if that option is enable.  I assume yours is since you know to expect it.

That is definitely a crash of Pegasus Mail.  I don't understand the inner workings of the spell checker so regret that I can't offer any help towards a resolution but I do wonder whether it happens both when a spell check is triggered on send and when one is triggered manually.

Thank you.

Do you want the crash dump here under answers or rather me send it to the mail address given in the protocol?

MinDump itself creates a message with the proper address, just complete it and send it.

The mail created has a subject but no address inserted.

Something must have went wrong: Did you see a dialog asking for a comment? It also provides a field for adding addresses other than the default one. Does it have an attachment named similar to the subject line? Here's the default address: <beta-reports [at] pmail.gen.nz>.

Michael: Thank you very much for your efforts on my behalf.

Yes, there was a dialogue asking for giving details of the encountered trouble, it began: „Pegasus Mail's system information couldn't be attached due to the actual crash conditions. If anything comes to mind which would involve to delve deeper into the workings of Pegasus and could be executed by the user in version 4.7  I would much appreciate to get to know about it. Perhaps with a short PM pointing me into the right direction of a forum posting?

Thanks once again.

Thank you also to Brian and the info that the problem occurs in both cases, if spell check is activated or worked manually.
